What are Some of the Environmental Impacts Associated with Information, Systems, Computing, and Communications, Etc.?
Information technology has played a significant role in increasing organization performance. As such, every organization desires to adopt such systems. Almost the entire global population now has access and desires to utilize more IT-related resources. A downside to this is the parallel negative impact that is related to the environment. There is an increase in the amount of electronic waste now being experienced globally. Attention also that the use and need to assure efficiency to such a system equates to increased consumption of energy (Balakrishnan & Zhang, 2020). The increased demand for these devices suggests an increase in the rate of production of the same, as such results in the large consumption of the limited available natural resources. It consequently causes a strain on the environment to satisfy the excessive utility of these resources. These manufacturing industries are then recording in the quantity of waste and pollutants now introduced to the natural environment. There are existing concerns on how the continued advancement in technology will continue impacting negatively on the environment. It is considering the inexistence of effective strategies and policies that can regulate the production and use of technological infrastructure.
Explain the Three Components of a Sustainable Information Technology Infrastructure along with its Business Benefits.
Every information technology infrastructure should ensure the existence of these three components for optimum effectiveness. Backup and recovery are the first component. Organizations need to establish a fast backup and recovery framework plan that enables the recovery of organizational data with system downtime or failure. It is considering the establishments on the cost that can be incurred with a sense of an effective backup and recovery plan. It benefits the business by assuring all-time availability of its services, even with instances of downtime or failure (Wu & Ning, 2018). A firm is then with the ability to guarantee customer satisfaction that is directly related to customer loyalty.
The other component is the data recovery plan. It enables organizations to develop procedures that would ensure the reinstating of its systems to previous levels of efficiency after the occurrence of risks or threats. It is essential as it maintains all business activity, this assuring alignment to firm goals and expected levels of productivity. The third component is a business continuity plan. It enables the development of procedures that aid in the avoidance and mitigation of all identified forms of risk that can negatively impact on a form’s operations. It benefits businesses in the ability to continue operations during a disaster and recover fast with such occurrences.
