Diabetes is a common disease that is affecting people in the world. There are two types of diabetes, the type 1 diabetes which is caused by when the immune system which is affected by viruses and type 2 diabetes which is common amongst many of the victims and is caused by lifestyle conditions and genes (CNN Library, 2018). The nature towards how individuals are affected by the illness causes a lot of health problems and can lead to death. The quality of the context is examining the impacts of diabetes, institutions, groups, and individuals who are most likely affected by diabetes, understanding different sociological perspective to investigate the existence of diabetes in the society, state and also country. The sociological change needed to address diabetes as an illness that needs to be controlled by involving social institutions. It examines the course in which the media plays a vital role in identifying diabetes to the society or community and ensuring that the adverse effects of the diseases outlined and how to manage the illness.

Impacts of Diabetes

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports that more than 100 million Americans have diabetes, in 2015 CDC estimated that 30.3 million Americans had Diabetes and since then the rate of diabetes has been increasing significantly. Diabetes has a lot of adverse effects on society and also individually. Diabetes caused by high levels of blood glucose that results in insulin infection; this reduced the immune system of an individual. It brings about complications such as kidney failure, blindness, cardiovascular diseases, and premature death. It demonstrates that diabetes is a killer disease that affects the day to day lives of individuals. Individuals who are affected by diabetes suffer from frequent urination, excessive thirst, weight loss, extreme hunger, change in vision, numbness of hands and feet, feeling tired, dry skin and recurrent infections. These effects promote the basis in which the disease causes a lot of argon to the victim. The other impact of diabetes is that it does not have a cure but has only ways of managing the illness (CNN Library, 2018).

Diabetes is affecting all groups of people as well as individual based on their race, gender, class and age. Type 2 diabetes affects most adults but through a recent analysis young people below 25 years of age are affected by the illness and is caused by obesity portrayed in different groups of people. Diabetes affects groups of people based on race, class, gender, and age equally with no bias. Diabetes is 66% higher among Hispanic Americans than non-Hispanic white Americans. According to CDC adults between 45 to 64 years are most affected by diabetes while those who are 18 years and below there is a steady growth of the young being affected. People with high social, economic status are not likely to manifest diabetes compared to people with the low social, financial situation. Since 1980 the number of people living with diabetes has quadrupled to about 422 million people according to world health organization (Tara John, 2018).

Diabetes health issues arise by sociological perspective such as symbolic interaction theory that states how society influences the social world. It can be depicted by showing that diabetes facilitated by individual lifestyle and this can be through diet, many of the people do not consider a proper diet, and this leads to being overweight and obese which increases their likelihood of being diabetic. Fast food, processed foods, snacks and sweet are the reasons why there is an increase in people with diabetes and this reduces the chance of people having healthier lives by increasing poor diet into their feeding habits. The aspect of human fats is very unproductive and unhealthy caused by the environment in which leaders are not promoting change towards the industrial processing foods that bring health issues to individuals (New York Times, 2012).

American Diabetes Association and Centre for Disease Control helps prevent and cure diabetes to improve people's lives. National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases and Diabetes Hands Foundation are responsible for research and development of diabetes and help impact people's lives by promoting awareness to ensure that diabetes effects controlled. The organizations provide unique characteristics of supporting and empowering those affected by diabetes and by providing better treatment to American people affected by diabetes.

Social change through technological change can help raise awareness and prevent issues relating to diabetes. It developed by the construction of health devices such as administering insulin pills to victims that will enable individuals to focus on their health issues. The aspect of getting digital health especially to American is a way of ensuring that the health of individuals is promoted (CNN Health News, 2016). Diabetes being common to many of the people by the establishment of this technological advancement will help reduce the effects of diabetes is not cured. Social institutions such as the National Institute of Diabetes helps promote effective control of diabetes by offering educational support to the public on how to manage diabetes, avoiding anything that would increase diabetes and minimizing rates of diabetes. The institution provides a platform where people can take active control to manage their conditions as well as that of others.

Conclusion

Diabetes is a severe illness that can cause serious health issues to an individual. The negative side of the disease is that it is not curable but managed through a series of medication which involved administering of insulin. To ensure that every person who has diabetes his or her health is maintained using task including exercise, proper dieting and quality lifestyle established to improve the quality of those affected. Diabetes is a condition that is affecting a lot of children, and this has brought a lot of controversial medical cases dealing with children who are overweight as well as obese. Media outlets are ensuring that the effects of diabetes and management of the illness, is established to avoid the increase of diabetic cases.
