The patient is a single female, born in Feb 1976, called Candice Conway living in Los Angeles, California. He was admitted and assessed on April 25th, 2019 and diagnosed with severe peptic ulcers leading to her hospitalization. According to her medical records, she received endoscopy and other tests three years earlier but his condition worsens with time. The patient is currently taking 40mg of omeprazole twice per day as a PPIs and 2g of Tinidazole once per day as antibiotics previously taken last night. She is a kindergarten teacher with a side job as a personal tutor for some home-schooled students. The patient is capable of providing care for herself except when her health gets worse, she depends on her older son, Brandon, for support who is too young to care for anybody. She has not been so keen on following his required medical follow-up schedule, which is to go for a check-up after every two months. Also, she has failed to completely quite bad behaviors like smoking and drinking carbonated drinks; though reduced these eating and personal care habits have contributed to the condition's worsening state. She receives pay of around $7,072 annually and Brandon's disability check of $1,110. Her two sons are in school and, therefore, short on money when it comes to buying his drugs. The patient has no health insurance coverage but must cater for drugs on his own.
The diagnosis plan is to prioritize on reducing the spread of the Pylori infection by increasing the antibiotics and PPIs considerably as well as decrease the patient's pain. Second, the nurses will focus on having close check-ups on the patient to help avoid additional complications. Last, the patient's objective is to reduce the amount of pain and discomfort felt in her body, and receive treatment for her condition.
Patient's education on the dangers of smoking and drinking carbonated drinks and alcohol and other illegal substances and their contribution to her peptic ulcers should be highly insisted. This can be done by providing effective reading materials and counseling sections to offer more insight into a healthy and controlled environment.
The patient requires around $100 every two months to cater to her doctor check-up routine. She will need $70 to cover her medical care specialty which includes nutritionists and counselors. She needs approximately $120 per treatment intervention, e.g., more endoscopy, in case the current treatment fails to work. For her medication needs, she requires the same dosage but should be followed to the letter to avoid additional heal problems, which costs between $80 and $100 per dosage. Diagnostic Testing, Future Adjunctive Therapies, and Potential complications will cost her $110 each. All of the financial summaries becomes around $1,000 including miscellaneous costs like transportation and supplies costs.
Reflection and Conclusion
After the analysis, the patient's health seemed to have improved. The patient has the potential to recover completely and have good health. However, due to her behavioral and personal care failures, her health deteriorates with each passing day. Also, her financial inability contributes to a continued inability to receive good medical care and treatment through a medical cover. Therefore, it is important for patients to not only be willing to help physicians treat them but they should be both financially stable to cover the treatment costs and be optimistic in their reform for good results to be realized.
