"I am Sara, a sixteen years old girl. This story is a narration of my painful encounters in the last few years. Everything seemed out of place for me. I lost self-confidence ultimately. I always felt anxious about my conduct. In the pursuit to overcome the feeling, I decided to call myself "a strong Sara." At first, I felt a massive mountain in front of me, and I could not cross it. I felt insecure, lonely, and depressed. I always thought I would never survive, and my life would halt. The reason for my feeling is my family's instability. The state influenced my adolescent, functioning, and behavior. Due to the condition, my age-mates in our locality shunned me and left me lonely. Also, I had neither a brother nor a sister.
The only positive person in the family is my grandmother. She would encourage me. I loved spending time with her due to the happiness she installed in me. I am poor socially. After the death of my grandmother, I faced difficulties bonding with other people. It did not take long before my parents separated. This separation added to my challenges. I could no longer sufficiently manage my physical and mental health. I always felt insomnia, stressed, nervous, and unsettled. This state manifested for months. I became weaker, and I developed school phobia. The only place that seemed peaceful was my room. I developed a dislike for everything, and my passion for reading and drawing died. I hated my life more. I lost my appetite for food and grew thinner.
I thought of visiting a therapist. After sharing the same with my father, his reply was a bit plain. 'Sara, you are fine, you don't need a therapist. Get some rest and read a Holy Quran, you will feel better". As time passed, I set a resolution to be the 'Strong Sara,' to allow nothing to conquer me. One morning, I woke up with much zeal. 'Sara, you are strong,' I told myself. I begin thinking positively and associate with what would make me feel better. I decided to forget the past, learn from my mistakes, prayed on time, eat healthily and started sporting. I gradually embarked on reading and drawing. Although some voice told me that I would not succeed, I never gave in. I decided to press on.
My resolution bore fruits. Today, I stand before you, testifying a strong girl. After regaining my physical and mental pointers, I have made friends and overcame anxiety. I wrote this story to encourage those who might be having the same difficult times as mine. You can overcome, you will overcome. Please note that anxiety was the major contributor to my dull lifestyle. Anxiety is a psychological and physiological condition caused by a combination of cognitive, physical, and behavioral elements. The feeling is associated with uneasiness, fear, or hesitation. Anxiety is one of the widespread and most difficult disorders among teenagers. The condition can lead to depression, or kill the person who gets it all together.
For those having rough times due to condition, do not give up. You are stronger than the state, and if you choose to defeat it, trust me, you will. To everyone reading this story, do not allow life struggles to knock you down. Always keep trying and fighting, and you shall overcome. Thank you" Rahma Haider
