Introduction
I work in the healthcare industry for a cancer hospital in cancer research. My organization will benefit the most in using the Enterprise resource planning application (ERP). In the aim to achieve quality patient care and cost reduction, it is crucial that health care organizations invest in ERP system (Garefalakis et al., 2016). It is also essential for my organization to streamline its internal flow of information and communication to provide quality care. Thus, the ERP application system would help integrate all units, planning and budgeting. By using ERP application, employees of different departments within the hospital facility can communicate and work better, thus increasing efficiency. ERP put in place would help my organization in storing and transferring patients’ details among different departments such as the radiation therapy department laboratory and palliative care departments. This easy access to medical records among all staff helps to provide the right decisions, quality patient care and the patient welfare (Garefalakis et al., 2016). ERP also allows for the storage of health-related information to ensure safety and confidentiality. Additionally, ERP is essential in processing financials and monitoring payments done by clients.
The best ERP solution that healthcare industries can adapt to is NetSuite ERP. The health facility where I work currently uses NetSuite ERP. This software tool helps in simplifying complex processes, saving on cost and improving communication across different locations. This ERP tool helps the company adapt to regulatory changes, advancement in technology relating to life sciences and enhance competition among other private hospitals (Lacy et al., 2019). I would not change the current ERP system and tools that the healthcare centre currently uses because, through this system, it is easier to configure a role-based dashboard that develops KPIs that are real-time (Lacy et al., 2019). The NetSuite ERP software also enhances decision making and control internal audit.
Conclusion
In conclusion, ERP software is the most appropriate application for use in the health care industry. The cancer hospital and centre for research where is work, like other healthcare industries, seriously focuses on providing, efficient and quality care while minimizing clinical errors. One recommendation I would make, however, is that the company should adopt the use of a combination of ERP and CRM software. The ERP and CRM integration software is vital for 360 views of the clients visiting the hospital. Also, ERP/CRM integration eliminates tedious data entry and duplication that may often occur in a hospital.
