Introduction
Discrimination is an important issue affecting society today. The main form of discrimination today is in forms of racial discrimination, employment discrimination, profiling based on mental health, harassment, and poised environment. Discrimination is a bad practice as it makes people feel unappreciated, unwanted, and feel worthless. Therefore, these practices are uncalled for, and it needs to be stopped. People miss a lot of chances because of their color, religion, and ethnicity. Having a community that appreciates and respects each individual is crucial to maintaining the social balance that is required for a productive environment. I witnessed an activity where a black man misses a job opportunity because of his color. Primarily, he was the most qualified, but his color was the main reason why he lost the opportunity.
Just like abuse and bullying, discrimination is an emerging trend in the community, and it has some adverse consequences and effects. Rejection and exclusion, which are directed to an individual by other people, causes extreme worry to the person (Gerrard, Gibbons, Fleischli, Cutrona, & Stock, 2018). Primarily, it results in anxiety, depression, sadness, and felling of quilt and emptiness. Moreover, discrimination often leaves an individual broken and confused. They may result in taking alcohol, drugs, or direct hatred of other people. This can affect the individual financially, and he or she may lose his or her job (Gerrard et al., 2018). Likewise, communities and business which fail to take intense action against discrimination tend to have lower productivity. Additionally, people who are subjected to racial discrimination may regroup with some vengeance against other groups. This might result in social discord and conflicts.
Discrimination happens every day, be it in the workplace, social places, and it affects people profoundly. This information is essential as it helps as it creates awareness about the issue. The information is essential as it helps in understanding everyday life and the problems which mainly people go through mainly through discrimination. The information closely relates to human relationships as it seeks to improve interpersonal conflict. Discrimination affects all people in the community regardless of the social class, financial class, and race. It is essential for people to understand how to live together harmoniously and with respect. Such an environment would be ideal as the community will economically, socially, and politically. Likewise, people's ideas will be respected, and all people will be given equal chances despite the color or the skin and education, or ethnicity.
