As a victim of the aliens' abduction, some of the theories of categorization of choice to educate the abductors would be prototype theory and the exemplar theory. Fist, the prototype theory encompasses a mode of categorizations in the cognitive science whereby the total number of members of a category have unequal status. In context, some members of the category are more central than the other members. The term prototype aims at denoting a stimulus that actually takes a silent position in the formation of a category of interest. However, since it is the first stimulus to be associated with the category of interest, it is considered to be the most central member of the category (Finchman, 2009). The prototype in psychology is normally perceived to be a complete image of something that consists all the expected characteristics and qualities present. According to my performance, I would include some examples of some of the factors that influence prototypes including the individuals' language, social and cultural background. For instance, for a city man, the term vehicles may mean care and buses. Nonetheless, for a remote or farmer man, the term may mean a motorcycle or even the rural carriages.
Secondly, the exemplary theory involves the various criteria in which people categorize different ideas and objects in psychology. This theory claims that people usually make category judgments by actually comparing the instances that are already stored memory of something with the new stimuli. In this scenario, the specific instance stored in the memory is the exemplar (Bouton, 2016). However, the new stimuli are assigned to a specific category based on the highest number of the resemblances it has including the exemplars in the exact category. I would also include some the instances as an inclusion to my performance. For instance, the model prospects that most people create on the bird's category by sustaining a collection of the birds they have come across in their memory. In context, if a new stimulus on birds is the same as the stored memory of information about the birds, the individual would classify the new stimuli in the bird category.
Thirdly, the other two theories are the Rescola-Wagner and Feature theories but cannot explain my performance. The Rescola-Wagner theory talks about a model of classical conditioning whereby the learning experience is theorized in terms of the association between the conditioned stimuli and the unconditioned stimuli (Bouton, 2016). It is actually a trial model in which each of the stimuli is either present or absent at the same time. The feature theory involves a condition that when perceiving a stimulus, the features are registered early, automatically and in parallel. The objects are also identified separately at a later stage in processing.
