Introduction

I developed an interest in getting involved in the community projects and activities while studying at "Duke-Fuqua School of Business" Where we were taught on how to become effective leaders in the society and since I had a passion of leadership that necessitated me use the already acquired knowledge and skills for developing leadership skills and personal accomplishments which will help them to contribute immensely in the society (Redmond, 2016). Based on the understanding Fuqua culture I see myself becoming an essential person in the community regarding contribution and engagement in community services in the following ways.

Participating in community aided projects like monthly clean-up exercise, participate in census activities to ascertain the people residing there.

Volunteering with some small group of friends in the community to go and visit the orphans, those with special needs and going with food and other necessary things and most importantly spending the day with them to make them feel the overwhelming love, care, and support despite the challenge they may be going through.

The other ways I will do to contribute and engage in activities in the community will be based on the following.

On ensuring the bond between I and neighbors remained strong I was engaged in the following ways in the community.

I am volunteering to clean up trash around the community.

They are participating in fundraisers that will help in the development of some community aided projects like raising money for the building of playground and funding tournaments where talents will be nurtured.

It is volunteering in forums that are after discouraging the abuse of alcohol and substance abuse, through mentoring the students in different schools on the dangers associated with abuse of drugs and advising them to engage in sports and other activities that will help them nurture their talents and also lead to their personal development (Ansdell, 2017). This is an area that has not been adequately addressed in the community hence I will fill that gap in the community which will help in the development of new businesses

I have been helping out in cases of disasters like fire disasters where I provide first aid on the rescued victims while waiting for the ambulance to take them to the hospital for further treatment.

I have set up campaigns and programs which will help the community members especially the youths make a living. I have done so through mobilizing the government to open up industries and reduce importation of products so that these youths can fill the gap and be processing and producing goods like textiles, sugar processing companies and this will encourage more exports that will benefit the government on their part too.

I have also contributed a lot in helping the homeless and hungry in my community - some of the ways I have done that include.

Visiting the homeless, orphans with some groups of friends and ensuring we take to them clothes, food, and contributions that will help cater to their upkeep. Physically visiting them and doing the day's activities and also leisure activities like soccer and this will make them feel the immense love, care, support and feel like part of the community.

Taking the children who are homeless, orphans and those living with HIV-AIDs and Cancer to leisure parks, zoos, watching movies, where they will be able to have fun, mingle and feel they are the same no matter what challenge comes there way. I contributed a lot to engage in environmental activities and in ensuring environmentally friendly business operations in the community.

I introduced recyclable bags which was to be used by community members when purchasing groceries and other goods. This helped us to transition from using polythene bags which will negatively impact on the environment. Creating campaigns which will advocate for the conservation of habitat and ecosystem with the following pillars.

Use of reusable bags when women use it for buying fruits and vegetables in the market they will not be required to through way the bag rather they will preserve the bags for future use. This will help to ensure the environment is kept clean.

Advocating for companies to embrace the use of recycled raw materials and avoid using raw materials that are not environmentally friendly and those starting companies should use recyclable materials hence protect the environment and save them substantial capital investments usually required when doing new startups.

The most important thing is advocating for the planting of trees and reducing the rate of deforestation so has to enhance on biodiversity in the ecosystem where living organisms can be able easily to survive and thrive in, where they will e able to get food and plants nutrients through the process of photosynthesis.

Conclusion

Those are the ways that I have been doing in ensuring I contribute towards the conservation of the environment in the community. I have also participated in extracurricular activities on behalf of my neighborhood, I like playing soccer, and as the striker of the team I helped them regarding goals to reach the nationals where we won the game, and I became the top scorer. This was a milestone as no other team had ever entered that far in this competition before. This has made an essential person in the community as I am always part of the activities through self-participation and contribution regarding financial resources and all this has been thanks to the traits I acquired while studying at Duke-Fuqua School of Business. It has helped to develop leadership traits that I have implemented in the community through engaging in numerous community activities.
