Introduction
The business group comprises of a group of different business tycoons, companies, corporations and other businesses in a community with a common objective. These organizations can be sports clubs, advocating groups, credit unions, and some religious groups. In most of the cases, non-business groups are the groups that do not involve themselves in the business and mostly they are considered as non-profit groups. They involve themselves in organizations that are non-profit making. The essay delves into offering argument whether there is a problem if business groups have more political influence than non-business groups. Therefore, the discussion in the essay supports the claim, 'there is a problem if business groups have more political influence than non-business groups.' One of the primary reason is that many business groups consist of goons and tycoons or cartels whom if they are given a chance in the political interference, they will consider their businesses interest rather than considering peoples interests. More often than not, in a country, citizens should be highly regarded by their leaders because if the business community is given more political influence than non-business groups a lot of black market deals will emerge which will make it difficult for the government to collect tax effectively. Arguably, non-business groups are primarily meant for whistleblowing- they air public views thus these groups are not profit oriented. Other activities like sports intend to bring youths together and the people who participate in sports while others like religious groups represent the majority of the citizens in the country, their views are highly considered politically because they are perceived to offer the basis for ethical values.
Therefore, these groups represent people without any special interests or benefits that business groups may need non-business organizations if given influence that is more political to represent the demands of many people. Many cartels would drastically rise; economy may sabotage while a small-scale person may not be favored by the entire policies that would be implemented if business groups have been given a lot of power in the political influence than non-business groups.
Argument
Business groups will directly influence the planning with their objectives that they want to achieve, this will occur in a way that the business groups have a direct relationship with people in the legislature or themselves are involved in the planning process of the government strategies. These groups of people will, therefore, bring about all the objectives and plans that will help their businesses achieve their goals and plans. They will have control over many aspects that will foster a positive outcome to fulfill their objectives. For instance, when the target of the business is achieving more profits by reduction of tax from the goods that they are dealing with, then they will introduce policy measures that will advocate for the reduction of taxes. This political influence will negatively affect the country. For example, a decrease in taxes means that some development programs will stagnate since the tax is the main source of government revenue and hence government revenue for that year will decrease. Many government social programs that are run with the funds that are from the collected revenue. For instance, the development of infrastructure and social amenities will be reduced resulting to the common citizen being disregarded as well up the surge of the cost of living. This explicitly highlights the problem brought about by the influence of business groups in the society hence it is a great tragedy in the economy as a whole. Therefore, there is a significant problem if business groups have more political influence than non-business groups.
Business organizations have a bad, and a negative influence in politics since their representation in legislature and committee will result to an unfortunate and non-considerate decisions because their views will be profiting the business part in the community while disregarding the other important organizations in the community. Especially, in cases where the business groups will influence different government and business leaders to create or implement laws that will help a particular business or an organization to achieve their objectives and plans. For instance, when a particular group is involved in changing or implementing a particular law, then the business groups will take it as an advantage and use the freedom to benefit themselves. For example, when an organization wants to start a business of importing certain goods may be for resale or as raw materials in their manufacturing company. Even if the commodity is not allowed to be traded within the country, they will implement laws that will allow the importing and trade of good in the country regardless of how bad the commodity might be in the country. This shows that it is not just a small problem but also a significant problem that can cause fatal outcomes in the country. Therefore, it is not suitable for business groups to have more political influence since the results are not suitable for any economy either growing or developed country.
Arguably, when business groups are given a chance, the rate of misuse and embezzlement of public funds increases. For this case, the syndicate of the multibillion-corruption saga has increased worldwide. As a fact, the research that has regularly been conducted across the globe shows that business people and leaders who are involved in many political organizations have been used as a leak to facilitate the growth of corruption. Most of the government tenders that have been given to business groups with a special interest political interference has been proved fraudulent thus propagating corruption. Many business people in collaboration with corrupt political leaders have caused a significant loss to the country.
On the same note, business groups influence the decision-making process that the government may need to include to make decisions concerning trade, and incidentally they invite business tycoons in their committee then it may be a perfect chance for them to have their way because they are regarded to be good people with great business minds. In this case, it should not be misunderstood that is bad to involve the business groups in such important issue. However, it is wise to control their influence in the decision-making. This is because many business people always have their objective of making huge profits without considering other citizens who do not depend mostly in business to earn a living. Reiterating on the issue, business people have good ideas and plans if they are consulted on the virtue that people who are business minded can generate ways of improving the country's economy as well as decline it. This is because these people have studied business and they can measure the economic progress of a country and compare it with other countries. Furthermore, they can understand different countries` terms of trade, hence they can advise a country on which side to invest or either way.
As a result, these people can help to advise on matters dealing with the economic growth of a country by airing out the strategies that should be used to create a solution to unemployment. Therefore, it is good to consider business groups in this way but also to be alert of their interest with the decisions and views they are airing towards the changes that should take place in that effect. The advantage of including non-business groups in a discussion or a matter like this is that they do not have special interest. Most of these groups like religious groups will always consider the value of the common citizen. The problems facing them, they will bring out their best strategies to make sure that citizens are well represented. More often than not, they have no or any objective of gaining profits and so it becomes hard for them to be involved either directly or indirectly in corrupt practices.
In many businesses that involves government tenders, many business people have been lobbying. This clearly shows that in Europe there have been many companies both individual and groups company have been lobbying in their interest from the government to get some offers such as; government subsidies, tax write off, government tenders, tariff changes, loan guarantee and policy changes. These business groups have shown a lot of greediness when it comes to the using of public funds for their special interests. In the country as outlined in the book, a topic of Linking people to the government, it shows that these groups had gone to an extra mile of forming larger organizations to pursue their special interests, they formed a system of business interest association in Canada. Accordingly, there was the emergence of high fragmentation that consisted of many focused organizations they presented their interest to Canadian government where they were addressed. This shows how business groups were greedy such that they wanted everything to be done in their way and a way that they would benefit. Moreover, the business groups even formed many coalitions from different companies some being manufacturing and others were trade companies. In this coalition, they presented their interests to the prime minister of Canada and insisted for subsidies. The group wanted the government to lower the taxes for their companies and organizations; this was a sign of greediness. Therefore, from the above illustration, it is true to note that business groups should not be allowed to interfere in a country politically because the adverse of their interference is felt everywhere in the country.
Non-business groups in the current affairs are groups of great help in the society today. These groups are formed mostly to advocate for the groups that come from the non-profit organization. Thus, people who have similar problems form them, and the leaders of these groups then represent them to the government, they air their views as well. In the book, the Canadian Labor Congress (CLC) was formed mostly to serve and advocate for the laborers, the voice for the laborers in Canada be aired through this organization. Many of the communities were involved in these organizations; they helped them in many ways such as representing them in the government, advocating for their rights such as salaries and remunerations was the aim of this organization.
It is essential to understand that business groups cannot advocate for the rights of workers instead they push the rights of workers. Many companies mistreat their workers with a lot of crookedness behaviors, late payment, low wages, and such kind of poor treatment. Therefore, it becomes difficult for business groups to advocate for these workers. It is always for workers to form these coalitions to help them to achieve cohesion. Many people not only workers but also the other special groups in the societies still need to be represented in government and social status. Therefore it is essential for the formation of non-business groups.
Non-business groups like political parties, sports clubs, trade unions and special interest representations are also fundamental, they help the people under...
