I have selected this topic becasue corona virus has been a trending topic for the last two months across the globe. Different posts concerning the virus, COVID-19 have been flooding into all social media posts and hence becoming hard to identify posts that are worth attention. This topic is important to me because it will keep me posted about the virus and the safety measures to take considering that I reside inTexas. Besides, as a students of Texas Politics, the topic is of interests since the pandemic has greatly affected the political world in the State.

The article has communicated a great deal of new ideas that will be very useful to read especially to Texans. Firstly, the article communicates very important information like the number of people infected with corona virus in Texas, which stood at 18,923 as of April 19th 2020 (Megan and Ortegon, 1). At this time, the number of reported deathsis 477 with 1471 being hospitalized. The State has so far run 182,710 tests (Megan and Ortegon, 3)The article also urges people to stay at home for the next one month and according to Abbott, schools could remain closed through the end of the schhol year. According to the article, the state is taking measures to address unemployment claims that have increased by 1,600% . She state has hired 1000 employees and reaxed the requirements for state unemployment benefits (Megan and Ortegon, 2). Besides, many of the Texans can get relief via the federal corona virus aid bill. It was important to publish these ideas to help people stay informed during this pandemic. Staying informed will help people stay safe and protected and hence curb the spread of the virus.

Methods for Arriving at Conclusions

To dwaw conclusions, the author of the article has used real and factual data. The source of this data makes it reliable. The authors use evidence obtained from trusted sources such as the department of health services in the state to tell the number of corona virus cases in the country. Additionally, the authors draw conclusions from decisions made by the supreme court such as the order that halts eviction proceedings before 30th April.

At the moment, voting by mail in the State only applies to the elderly, those in jail, the disabled and those outside their home counties during elections. However, with the runoffs having been pushe to July due to the pandemic, the voting system might change.

Therefore, the conclusions of the article are considered valid. For instance, the article says that (WHO) declared COVID-19 a pandemic.
