Introduction

Capra Tek organization is one of the manufacturing companies in Georgia in the United States of America, with over 1000 employees of which both are skilled and unskilled. Therefore, when recruiting or hiring new employees, there is a need for an organization to follow specific steps in the identification of their recruitment needs in hiring the most qualified person in the vacant position (Lowson, & Burgess, 2003). However, according to Capra Tek company, we usually use the competency model in recommending the job specifications for particular jobs and in the planning of the staff members. For instance, for the retail industry, the below job competency model is utilized.

O*NET online nowadays is assists human resources in addressing the organization's future requirements of employees' current and future knowledge and skills. The work needs the identification of the types of knowledge, abilities, and skills that are necessary for the future by comparing them to the existing ones at the moment, then the difference is resolved. Hence O*NET has been a useful human resource planning tool in determining the employees' needs in terms of knowledge and skills.

Therefore when hiring a competent employee, there are some of the skills and abilities that need to be considered before one is recruited. For instance, human resource needs to check first on the interpersonal skills of the employee. The need to interview the person to test whether he/she is able or can be able to work cooperatively with other workers. The need to identify the ability of the employee in terms of solving conflicts if in cases they arise (Lowson, & Burgess, 2003). Flexibility and the easy adaption of the worker since it will assist him in working with different people in different departments without difficulties since the organization keeps on reorganizing its structures so in keeping itself going. Ethical behavior is also an essential ability for any worker at work. Displaying honesty will assist in creating trust among the management and the workers, therefore, making everything run smoothly.

In hiring, academic competency is very crucial since for any task to be performed; knowledge is the key. For instance, for retail work, employees need to be conversant with computer programs and the prices of all the products of an organization. The person should be able to identify where specific information about particular products is placed. Basic mathematics knowledge is also necessary since, in most cases, the retail industry involves some essential calculations in the process. Knowing how to write business inventories, tracking the procedures for the merchandise, and other things that are important in retail.

Workplace competencies in any organization or institution are essential in the development of any company, mainly when recruiting a new employee. When an employee knows the business, having the general know-how of what the goals of the organization, what products, and the prices of the products that are sold to the customers. Understanding the major economic concepts and the trends of the company is very important (Metallo, Agrifoglio, Schiavone, & Mueller, 2018). An employee that will tend to act in the interest of the organization, one who is ready to follow the basic rules and principles of the company and prepared to keep the secrets of the company, is the best option in this case.

Experience and professionalism of the work are also necessary. A diligent person who inappropriately presents himself through the code of dressing and good hygiene. One who can work with people from different surroundings and that can work with unusual behaviors with diverse personalities when communicating with customers. An experienced employee will have the skills and abilities on how to handle specific questions from customers and address them without any hesitation to the satisfaction of the client. Therefore, during hiring, people with experience of work should be highly considered. Furthermore, during interviews checking by asking questions on how one will utilize time is also essential. Time is significant, and therefore an employee who will be able to manage his time well will automatically be able to plan and highlight crucial tasks that need to be accomplished first.

Knowledge of the safety measures is also essential at work since it will help minimize the losses and injuries that may be accompanied by the reckless handling of properties. Therefore, maintaining the standards of the organization in terms of security and safety of the customer and the worker.

However, the above knowledge, skills, and abilities may not be attained by an employee at the time of recruitment. Still, most of the competencies are learn with time in the organization. Hence competent employees are easily identified during the probation period.
