The situation of college life is unique for every student but most problems are common. In the present world, the number of students continuing higher education is on a rapid increase as the advancements in science and technology continue to evolve with every day that passes as well as the continuous change of life conditions (Doygun and Selma 1115). Current research also suggests that young people are losing much confidence in higher education because of the fact that a great majority of the young people in these institution are not able to find what they expect through the learning offered, that education taken is insufficient as well as other psychological and general problems.

In understanding the reasons for the distrust among students and hence provide the necessary solutions towards the same, it will be essential to look into the situation with young people and their problems (Zhu et al.,). This paper will discuss the obstacles that make college difficult for some students and suggest what should be done to make a college degree more attainable for all the students. The obstacles that make college difficult for some students include the problem of quality education, student's worry about their future and the problem of accommodation and food and to solve such issues, the institution management will need to determine the correct guide to students, rearrange education and increase cooperation in the education sector.

The background information about going to college involves the reason, the challenges and the costs. Going to college is a part of pursuing higher education, and people like to advance their studies by attending such institutions to certify them for their careers. Colleges are bridges between the childhood life of individuals and their career life. Currently, there are more than 20 million college students distributed across the United States (Hartocollis).

The argument presented is that going to college is definitely worth the time and money because they contend that college graduates have higher rates of employment, bigger salaries and they also have more work benefits compared to high school graduates. Going to college makes the individual have better interpersonal skills, live longer, and they are proven to have the ability to achieve significant milestones.

The average cost of joining college for in-state students is around $22,000, while for out-of-state students is $38,000. School costs continue to increase every year, even accounting for inflation (Hartocollis). Even when there are 20 million college students, there are over 44 million borrowers that owe a collective $1.5 trillion in total student debt (Hartocollis).

Such forms the counterargument that college is not worth such debts as they only delay other milestones in life such as marriage, financial independence, among others. There are many successful people who did not graduate from college, and many jobs do not need college degrees. College education is essential for individuals who would like to attain better skills for their careers because prestigious careers require high-level education.

The first obstacle that makes college difficult for students is the problem of quality education provided in the institutions. The definition of quality education is that today's youth are correctly trained by setting up appropriate conditions for them and considering their requirements and needs for the future. The problem of quality education is one that students face in most public colleges because they face issues of access to necessary information, learn in crowded classrooms, and the issue of social possibilities (Doygun and Selma 1118).

With the increase in the number of students that are continuing higher education, the university population can be termed as crowded. Similarly, there are no changes made to the college institution; hence the physical conditions fall short of meeting the demand for all the students. Instead of offering quality education, most of the educators that lecture in these colleges try to catch up with the intensity of course loads rather than making research studies on their allocated fields and being specialized. The teaching staff does not have regard for their students in being competent because they have not taught them adequately as they lack resources for excellent teaching.

Physical conditions of universities are also obstacles that make college life difficult because their abilities are limited to available elements and nearly sufficient physical structures (Doygun and Selma 1118). The libraries can only accommodate a few people making others not get a chance to access the reading materials, especially when they are only in hard copy without online resources. The lecturers only monitor the students who show interest in learning because the large number cannot allow them to monitor every student across the university. This way, it is difficult for these students to find college life easy because they fail in most units because of the absence of facilities to make their education more interesting.

Another obstacle that makes college difficult for students is their worry about the future. University students keep worrying about their future when they look at those before them. The problem of unemployment makes students fear more about the future since there are more college graduates with no jobs (Markowitz). The fact is that college graduates have an essential place that other people cannot regard it as being little at all.

These are individuals who have earned skills to do related jobs, and they deserve to be placed in companies that pay for such skilled work. Not everyone has the mind to start their businesses, but even so, they will still need money for the start-up. This way, they need the work for a kick-start even if it is temporary. A significant problem for most of the students is getting a good job, but their worry is that the degrees and diplomas they get will be of no use in the present social conditions (Markowitz).

Society dictates that it is time to begin making a living soon after college because the individual has to give back. This way, one has to start looking for a job which is quite difficult. Some of them end up giving up on searching for a job, and they may live severe psychological problems. Young people find it challenging to keep begging for companies to employ them, and staying a long time without the job makes it risky because their education gets weary with every point of view (Doygun and Selma 1117).

Finding a job is the future of a college student, and they consider themselves doomed if they do not get hired. That is only for some students because there are others who get lucky to work in the best companies in the country and earn a good salary that can make them survive.

The third obstacle is that the cost of going to university in America is quite expensive. The costs range from college fees, accommodation, and food, which are impossible to get unless there is help from parents as the students do not work. The university and activity fees of students in a year are around $500 and that is included in the budget of education. Such fees vary according to schools and there are extra charges for the students involved in extracurricular activities, gaining access to the gym and sports. The problem of food and accommodation is faced by students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have no money to survive. Food and shelter are the basic needs of every human being, but they are not free. (Banks-Santilli).

In most cases, university students are not able to take care of themselves with only a little money hence face the risk of losing academic years as they work to get the little they can to support education. College students also require tuition fees which range between $10,000 and $40,000. On the bright side, there are institutions that have financial aids for the students. The cost of joining college is also bigger because of accommodation, which is also another critical problem for students because it is the first difficulty that students encounter when they leave their home cities and move to another in search of higher education (Doygun and Selma 1117).

The fact is that colleges cannot accommodate the large number of students that they admit; hence some of them are forced to look for accommodation in other areas that are more expensive compared to the school provisions. A great majority of these students have no other choice, especially when they live quite far from their parents, and there are no other cheaper options.

There is also the good side of colleges and I also agree that going to college is not as difficult as people say and one can attain the college degree without so much struggle. Enduring the risk of going to college is worth the fight because there are more benefits that one will have compared to the problems they encounter. Even when there are obstacles that make college difficult for students, there are ways that college is made easier. Going to college is a motivation to work even harder and not lazy around.

The problem of quality education can be solved by the student on their own because they are the master of the play. College students should know that the lecturers are only supposed to give then 20% of the education while they take care of the rest of 80%; hence no complaints that the lecturers are lazy and do not monitor them (Garrett). If one is aware of the goal they have to achieve, they will go after every option they have to make sure they attain the goal. It is the case for college students who have to research adequately and read widely without the control of the lecturers.

Also, students need not worry about their future but look at the present and do what is expected of them. It is obvious that high grades will help a student land a great job at the company of their choice because human resource managers look for skill and grades (Garrett). This way, students need to do their learning without worry and hope that they get a chance where they would like. The problem of food and accommodation can also be solved by the student such that they take care of themselves with the little they have, and they can also use the skills they have to do some jobs that do not require a college education and make money to survive. Going to college is not easy for every student, but they can make it easy if they want by being focused and learning tactics to be good.

Conclusion

In conclusion, there are solutions to the obstacles making college challenging for students. The obstacles that make college difficult for some students include the problem of quality education, student's worry about their future and the problem of accommodation and food and to solve such issues, the institution management will need to determine the correct guide to students, rearrange education and increase cooperation in the education sector. There are ways to make a college degree more attainable for all students.

One solution is that the institutional management should see to it that they prioritize offering services to the needy students as others can fend for themselves. This way, it will be easier for students to take learning processes easily. The institution needs to determine the correct guide to students so that they offer quality education for them....
