Consequences of changes in climate

The impacts of climatic change are very intense on human health, the environment and infrastructure, hence affecting most development policies and sectors including health and environment as well as socio-economic development (Le, 1996).

The environment

Climatic changes in most cases result in global warming which in turn affects the balance of water demand and supply leading to an expansion in the gap of water availability.

The economy

The agricultural sector is also affected in case of a climatic change in that high temperature lead to increases in pests and weed affecting significant species in the farm industry leading to food shortages (Le, 1996).

Human health

Changes in climate affect human health in many ways. A difference in temperature results in an increase in infection carrying insects whereas massive precipitation results in waterborne diseases.

Energy

Renewable energy resources hold a more significant number of advantages compared to nonrenewable resources (Apergis & Payne, 2012). Renewable resources don't emit pollutants into the atmosphere and are readily available whereas on the other hand nonrenewable energy tend to cause pollution to the environment by releasing toxic pollutants into the background.

Nuclear power

On the other hand, atomic energy releases fewer amounts of toxic gases hence contribute less to the process of global warming (Hurber, 1956). Although it does not contribute mainly to global warming nuclear power produces radioactive waste which is extremely dangerous.

Conclusion

Climatic change has diverse effects on the environment in the UAE both economically and socially. The results have profound consequences on the environment, human being and important sectors within the affected country. On the other hand, we learn that renewable energy is preferable compared to the non-renewable energy in that renewable energy lacks the toxic substances emitted by nonrenewable energy. Conclusively the paper analyses nuclear power, its advantages and disadvantages proving its toxicity towards the environment through radioactivity.
