Part 1: How People Learn

The case study issue pertaining the harmful effects of technology on bird migration on the eastern side of the U.S.A is one that delivers various information regarding technology and birds' migration. To identify the case study issues, I used the literature review approach along with other quantitative methods. In this approach, it delivers significant information based on data and evidence from other researches concerning the effects of technology on bird migrations specifically in the eastern side of the U.S.A. within the use of the literature review approach; the provided information was substantial; however, it did not deliver much concerning the issue. Thus, helped in identifying the case study issue. According to Cabrera and Buler (2018), the light pollution from technology is amongst the issues causing a significant effect to the migration of birds hence justifying the importance of the case study issue to the society.

Literature reviews provide specific information on a particular topic. Part 2: Migration

With the consideration to the migration of birds on the eastern side of the U.S.A, it comprises of different populations and species. My species of birds migrate from different location following different routes. On the east side of the U.S.A, various species of birds migrate such as the swallows, storks, and turtle doves. Moreover, other migrating birds include the ducks, geese, and other migratory rails. The geese are amongst the known migrating birds in the U.S following different flyways or main routes. The geese are known for winging in wrinkled V-shaped flocks following the different flight routes. Through the migration, they migrate for various reasons. According to Buler and Dawson (2014), birds move from low decreasing resources areas to high increasing resource areas in search for food and nesting locations through radar analysis. Also, some of the birds migrate to take advantage of the availability of insects especially (move northwards in the spring) while others escape the cold. As justification of geese as migratory birds, their skeleton is modified in a robust manner necessary for flight. The bones are hollow leaving them with no diaphragm as they evolve air sacs around their lungs.

On the other hand, the geese can be found on land, water, or in the air. In water, they have webbed feet which play a significant role as the paddle their feet through the water and provide a larger surface area for thrust. On land, they waddle due to their webbed feet making their stability clumsy. Correspondingly, the species has been renowned as amongst the many migrating species on the eastern side of the U.S which comes in handy with the seasonal occurrences. Geese may represent conservation as a flagship migratory species through different happenings. For instance, geese are slow moving birds which makes them an easy target for the predators. Due to such events and threats to their existence, it classifies them as a threatened migratory species.

Part 3: Law

The Migratory Bird Treaty Act (1918) is a federal law relevant to the case study issue since it delivers various details concerning the Migration of birds. The Migratory Bird Treaty of 1918 is a law intended to protect the bird migration in the U.S.A. the federal law makes it illegal for individuals to conduct various activities related to birds (Lilley & Firestone, 2008). For instance, the actions include; export, sale, purchase, import, and possession, of any migratory birds, parts, eggs, nests except under terms of a given valid permit issued according to the federal requirements. The treaty protects over 1000 species of migratory birds migrating between Canada, Mexico, Russia, and the United States thus elaborating on its significance.

Moreover, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA) was as a result of two previous acts intended to protect wildlife and the migratory birds in particular. It began through the banning of the illegal hunting and trafficking of wildlife in the U.S in 1900, (Lacey Act). Later on, in 1913 the Lacey Act gave a pathway to Weeks- Mclean Act which made the shooting of migratory birds' illegal. The two acts gave a basis for the formation of the Migratory Birds Treaty Act which has now remained dominant for the longest time. Also, the MBTA was expanded with the addition of the Endangered Species Act (Lilley & Firestone, 2008).

The actual intention of the act was to prohibit any illegal activities about birds especially hunting. The Department of the Interior and Fish and Wildlife Service is delivering other actions and clarifying on the law. I think it is one of the significant ways to protect the environment along with other environmental regulations. It is because, over the recent years, the act has been able to deliver its actual mission being to protect the migratory birds from any form of exploitation by human activities.
