Today, stressors are extreme due to the social changes that are a cutting edge for most the teenagers and young adults. Stress and health have been found to be factors that are common among the present-day life practices. According to behavioral epidemiology, consumption of high-fat foods, cigarette smoking and a sedentary lifestyle has been reported to be the cause of health risks. Obesity, asthma and diabetes are mostly resulted by default factors that are accompanied by the lifestyle that is emulated by the society. On the other hand, binge drinking and smoking has been reported to be the cause of the sudden death of infants and most of the victims.
Life events result in stress. The cause of stress in the past years was minimum bearing in mind that job searching was not a problem. However, the current stress that is brought up by the challenges of job hunting, the death of close family members and financial difficulties are the factors that contribute to alcohol and drug abuse which result into harsher health hazards. Asthma and impaired immune function amid some cancer are the diseases that are added by the kind of lifestyle that people allude to in line with the type of foods consumed (Chapter 9, 160).
Another factor that portrays that present-day lifestyle is the leading contributors to the stressors is the rising numbers of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Therefore, various positive and negative life events make people consume certain foods and drinks which results in a set of health hazards which later contribute to stress. For instance, merry seasons makes people consume junk foods which are hazardous and add to the chances of becoming diabetic. For that matter, various pieces of evidence portray the fact that today's life is affiliated with different challenges that result in constant life challenges that good corrupt health (Chapter 9, 160).
Today's alcohol consumption has been reported to result in the sudden death of infants. In the United States, alcohol-induced death has been reported to be 7.3 per every 100,000 people. It is true that alcohol-induced deaths have been increasing concerning the former infants' death. Early in 2005, a total of 21,634 deaths was reported due to alcohol consumption. The lifestyle change has resulted in major challenges for the infants thus smoking, and alcoholism has been reported to be the leading infants' death than before. Most women have been reported to be engaging in binge drinking even when they are pregnant thus resulting in fetal alcohol syndrome (Chapter 9, 166). Individuals do 90% of binge drinking under the prohibited age limit. Additionally, interpersonal problems and unplanned pregnancies are among the challenges that make women engage in binge drinking a situation that results in health risks for the infants. For instance, 25% of female students alongside 30% of males in the US engaged in binge drinking during 2005 only. Heavy drinking is the factor that promoted the high rise of deaths both on infants and the teenagers who fall below the age of people who are eligible to drink.
Conclusion
In that perspective, modern-day stressors regarding drug abuse have been reported to affect the young generation, unlike the people who lived thousands of years ago when the social norms were strict on drinking. In the past, adults were the most affected by alcoholism and drug abuse (Chapter 9, 166). Generally, the social orientation has changed thus the health challenges are majorly contributed by the default life stressors.
