Air transport is among the most developed transport system in the world. For emergency and overseas transport, air transport has been confirmed to be the most convenient mode. Despite being that effective in the transportation industries, many issues related to the environment have been noted to be arising from aviation practices. The first effect aviation on the environment is heat, which is emitted to the atmosphere by the air vessels. Through air transport, some particulates also are emitted to the atmosphere, which in turn become pollutants of air. Aircraft also emit carbon compound gasses from the burning petroleum in the aircraft engines. These gases have been noted to be the biggest contributors of pollution in the atmosphere and the case of global warming. Moreover, aircrafts taking off, or in the process of moving also produce loud sounds, causing sound pollution. Following the rise in the use of aircraft for transport purposes, there is a great rise in the rate of aviation environmental issues. This paper, however, talks about noise impacts of aviation on the environment. The paper also talks about the measures that are taken in the attempt to control the noise issues of aviation on the environment.
Noise pollution majorly arises from aircraft that are taking off and landing (Henriksen, 2018). This is because aircraft in the air are distant away such that the sounds they produce cannot reach the grounds and therefore cannot cause serious disruptions to the activities of the public. East Hampton airport is one of the busiest airports in the United States of America whose activities have been noted to be affecting the public. Following the noise issues associated with aircraft at the airport, many burns have been put on the operations of the East Hampton Airport to try reducing the disruption it cases to the surrounding society. The government has even banned the operations of noisy helicopters in the airport, making it difficult for the airport to operate efficiently to its capacity.
Although this measure of controlling noise impacts on the society by the government has reduced the number of complaints against the company's operations, income at East Hampton Airport has been reduced much. This is because the working hours for the company have been reduced. The ban strategy is therefore ineffective enough and an alternative should be introduced to eliminate both the effects of notice to the society and at the same time cause no negative impact on the income of the airport.
Following the fact that the company has been experiencing a reduction in the amounts of profits that they make from the business, the management should introduce other effective ways that will cause minimal impacts on their income. there are three major recommended ways that the company can use to ensure they reach their target as well as minimize impacts of their practices on the environment. The company should use quieter aircraft can help in reducing the noises that come from the airport. With quieter aircraft, East Hampton airport can negotiate and minimize the bans put against their operations by the government (Votsi, 2017). Quieter aircraft will also reduce the noise disruptions the airport cases to the society. The airport company can also introduce soundproofs to the buildings in the airport. Soundproofing the buildings will help in absorbing the loud sounds that come from aircraft taking off and landing. Through soundproofing, the company will be able to come back to their normal operations. These measures to control noise pollution by the company will, however, be expensive to install but will be very effective and in the end be very beneficial to both the society and East Hampton Airport.
