Introduction

When one follows the earth history over the years there have been climate changes. The current climate we are experiencing was preceded by the ice age. Climate change can be defined as the modification of the weather patterns. The different climatic conditions can be credited to the rotation of the earth on its axis. Correspondingly, volcanic activities and movement of the earth's plate can also cause this predicament. These aspects are not an issue because they are out of our arms to reach. The critical problem comes when the climate changes are caused by human activities. The rate at which the global climate is transforming is astonishing. The effects of global climatic variations are catastrophic. All living organism depends on the environment for survival. Adverse climate affects the environment and it's vital we prevent climate change.

Global warming is one of the reasons we should prevent climate change. Global warming leads to the melting of the glaciers which in turn has led to the ocean levels to rise. About forty percent of people live in the coastal towns in the USA. In the world, there are also other major cities which are located near the ocean. The rise in sea level can be catastrophic and lead to the loss of life and property worth billions of dollars. In case of storms, the water will surge more inwardly affecting more people (Bhattacharjee 220). Case in point is what happened with hurricane Irma. To prevent future calamities as such we should prevent climate change.

We are witnessing drastic changes in climate all over in the world. All living organism, humans, and wildlife are used to specific weather patterns, and any change in the design affect their survival. The wildlife depends on the forest for their survival. The lack of the forest clouds means the wildlife survival hangs on a balance. The scarcity of vegetation due to deficiency of rains translates to starvation. Many animals in the wild will die of hunger and be extinct. Multiple developing countries depend on rainwater for farming. Climate change can lead to severe drought known as La Nina. It can also cause extreme flooding scientifically called El Nino (Leal Filho, 55). In 2011 more than 60,000 people died in the Horn of Africa. To alleviate such occurrences we should be in the driving sit preventing climate change.

The greenhouse effect is caused by transforming the climate. The greenhouse effect is defined as the entrapment of gases which in turn traps heat. Just like glass, the gases prevent heat from escaping while allowing light. More heat is stuck when there are more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Greenhouses gases are vital in keeping the temperature on earth habitable. Otherwise, the surface would be too cold for living organisms to thrive. Over the years the level of greenhouse gases has been steady. The major impediment has been the use of fossil fuel which has led to the increase in greenhouse gases emission (Leal Filho, 99).

Human beings are the cause of this problem as they strive to quench their thirst for energy. Greenhouse gas emissions are at their highest levels currently. The race by the advanced and developing economies to become industrialized being a major contributor (Gao, 238). Biodiversity loss can lead to health issues in human beings. A living organism can adapt to changes but at a given rate. Greenhouse gases are perturbing because of the rapid change they are causing. The change is too first compared to the rate at which living organism can adjust to the changes. If we don't prevent climate change then the future is bleak for the future generation.

Similarly, not everyone believes in the importance of preventing climate change despite the hard facts presented. As a matter of fact, President Trump administration wants to cut down funds that are used for research purposes on climate change. Many oil companies have invested a lot of resources on fossil fuel which is a contributor to greenhouse gases. According to them, they have not recouped their initial investment, and that's why they are unwilling to invest in alternative sources of fuel. Environmental friendly fuel will prevent the change of climate as they release less carbon dioxide. The other group of people is skeptic economist who argues industrial revolution has brought more good than harm. It has led to the creation of jobs to millions of people. Additionally, technology advancement has also been witnessed in many aspects of life. All these have improved the standards of living of people. In conformity to them, climate change is a small price to pay compared to the rewards.

Conclusion

In conclusion, as human beings, we all yearn to bequeath our children with something valuable. A token that they will always remember us with. There is nothing as valuable as a well-conserved environment. It's worth more than gold and silver. The environment is life and without it, we cannot exist. To preserve the environment we need to prevent climate change will affect it. Some of our resources should be directed to ensuring climate change does not take place. We are the primary cause of this issue, what will we do to mitigate the problem we have already started? The more time we take to ponder on the answer the more the situation is getting worse. Policies should be made and adopted by all the countries in the world. These rules will ensure preventing climate change is core on their agenda. Pressure will be mounted on major polluters like India and China to change ways. Multinational oil and vehicle companies will put more effort in producing cleaner energy source.
