Affordable Healthcare

The affordable care act has been a bone of contention in the recent American public opinions. The bill was passed in 2010 by Obama administration to provide affordable healthcare to the American citizens. The bill aimed to expand Medicaid and children healthcare insurance programs. At the same time, it was to ensure insurance coverage to low-income earners. Some of the American citizens view the act as a success while others claim that it been a total failure. Healthcare has been a public social issue for some time now in the country. This overseen many calls to repeal the affordable care act and replace it with another healthcare act. The affordable care act managed a rise in the cost of federal government spending. At the same time, the bill led to various adverse effects on the American economy. Many insurance business companies that did not meet the requirements of the act ended up closing down (Andersen, Et al., 2011).

The other issue that has risen on health care is the life after the individual mandate. The point under affordable care at ensured that people buy insurance health care. In cases where an employer did not take care of the healthcare insurance of an individual, they are supposed to buy a subsidized Medicare by the federal government. In cases that a person does not possess a medical cover, they face penalties under the affordable care act. On the recent past, President Trump has moved to scrub the law and eliminate the penalty charged on the people who don't have a medical cover. The amendment is seeking to weaken the Obama care. This is as a result of the failure of the current administration to repeal affordable care act.

The current administration has sparked the discussion on America's healthcare. President Trump through an executive order sought to repeal Obama care. The Senate has not agreed on the best plan to repeal the affordable care act. The act has since remained operational. The healthcare remains one of the public issues that are yet discussed by the American citizens. Despite the bill remaining functional, there is various that been taken by the current federal administration to weaken the affordable care act. In 2017 a tax and jobs act was signed, the bill goes against the Obama care taxation on those who don't get health insurance. The current debate revolves around allowing everyone to get insurance coverage of their choice (Barry, Et al, 2013).

In addition to the issues mentioned above, the most pressing issue is the government's failure to finance Children's health insurance program. Since the law was passed in 1997 requiring children coverage in America the current government has refused to share the cost with the states in financing the program. The two houses seem reluctant in passing a bill that will see the federal government share the cost with the states on children coverage. It is likely that the states will be required to shut down the children coverage program since they cannot manage it on their own. More than 600,000 children enrolled in the children's health insurance program are likely to lose coverage. The Trump administration argues that parents should be willing to take individual coverage for their children if they more for them.

Impact of Federal Government Policies On The Society

The recent federal government policies have been affected to bring change in various sectors. The most recent have affected the health care system. The two houses have passed bills that produce changes in this sector, at the same time they had had a tremendous impact on the society. Some policies have positive effects while others have negative consequences. Various policies have sparked debates by the public and social organizations. Sometimes there has been pressure on the federal government to do away with specific policies or even pass them for the interests of the society. However, sometimes politics has played a major in making of policies by the federal government.

The effects of not charging penalties on people who will not have coverage will lead to more negligence on the health care matter After Obama care took effect; more people took health care covers as compared to previous years. The number of people who sought health consultations increased in number. There was also improved treatment of diseases that not paid attention to before. The healthcare quality of all people increased, and it ensured equality among all. However, with the signing of individual mandate act that eliminates all penalties on those that lack insurance coverage, the number of covered people is likely to reduce. Those who were not included will be more reluctant to take health care covers. At the same time, health care is going to become expensive to the American citizens.

The affordable care act was established in 2010; its primary goal was to provide affordable healthcare to low-income earners. It was a federal government policy which was to be implemented by states. However, the federal government would finance the healthcare act. The policy is still a point of discussion since it has many effects on the society and the economy at large. The plans to repeal the policy have had challenges (Young and Kroth, 2017). The republicans and democrats were not able to agree on the best idea in repealing the affordable care act. However, president trump through executive orders he has made changes on the policies which seem to weaken it. The effect of recent healthcare policies to the society includes increased health costs. The results of the healthcare policies are mostly felt in the economic sector. The increased costs have rendered closing of various insurance businesses as well as reduced employment opportunities.

Recommendation

Healthcare in the United States is an issue that has taken center stage in the political, economic and social setting. To come up with an amicable solution, all parties in the sector should be involved. Replacing of one health care system with another does not solve future problems that might be experienced. The current affordable care act should be ironed out and made to favor everyone in the sector. All stakeholders should agree and do what best for every citizen in the country. Federal government policies should be geared towards positive development in the society. The current Obama care might not be a perfect health care system. Hence the federal government should seek to amend the unfavorable parts of it rather than attempting to eliminate it entirely.

Conclusion

The Current Public Issues in America
mostly revolve around the federal government. The problems that raise public debates have various effects on the livelihood of the citizens. Some argue against or towards the policies. However, they cannot be a specific policy that favors everyone. Therefore the federal government has to do what it sees beneficial to the American citizens. Arguments on the public issues are based on what's best for everyone. The effects of these issues are far much significant than an individual. The economic impacts felt out of the federal government policies are either positive or negative as discussed above. Health care is an issue that requires more government and public participation to succeed in the current American society.
