Introduction

Making a meaningful contribution has been my greatest goal in life. I only struggled to attain this through determination, perseverance and passion. My main focus of making a meaningful contribution was to create an ideal society whereby all people could excise the virtue of humanity in their surrounding environments. I will, therefore, show the greatest time when I was able to do good things to the society where I lived through the sacrifice of my time. Alongside that, I will also, highlight the obstacles that I came across in the process of enduring the task to the people and enumerate some of the rewards that I gained.

In the community where I come from, most of the people are believers, and they all attended different churches. I am one of the believers, and I actively participate in my local church. As a youth, I usually participate in all the events of the church, particularly those that are assigned to youths. I always have extended participation in the local community where I lived. My advice to the youths is always seeking to make them understand the virtue of sacrifice

I remember this day when we were holding fundraising at my local church, and as usual, I showed my full participation, especially during preparation. We were expecting a number of visitors as the event was meant to raise enough funds for expanding the church building after a continuous rise of membership. The day came, and all the expected visitors turned up. As the ceremony starts, the master of ceremony announced that worshippers were free to make their promises to God as a way of honoring him. I decided to come out and inform the church authority that I was willing to go out and help those in need to the best I could despite my financial constraints. The first thing which came to my mind was the idea of visiting the refugee camp, and I made publicly in front of the congregation that I would be taking my prayers to the various refugees' camps.

One of the guests named Amanda was touched with my commitment and promised to support me financially as I planned to make regular visitations to the refugees. The sacrifice to use all my time to ensure that the refugees feel like part of the living touched most of the fellow members and were too ready to support me. After the event, I was already loaded with funds to support the project, and I was set to start it the next day. Many came up to join me, and we made a step forward and bought adequate food and clothes for them. We also encourage them on matters pertaining to life, for instance, not to lose hope in their lives even after being displaced from their original homeland. I felt that as my greatest contribution since the refugees were grateful and felt to have people who adore them.

Challenges

Challenges are part of life, and for me, I take them positively. Just like any other person, I, too, faced a number of challenges when making my sacrifice. Firstly, I encountered opposition both from some of the church members and the other people whom I managed to seek help from. There were many critiques especially when I was loaded with fund as some said I was going to spend them on my personal issues. Lack of support was also portraited by some of those church members.

Rewards

Every effort in life has a reward. I also received rewards for taking part and making a contribution to the refugees. After accomplishing the task, the church made me youth leader and most importantly, one of the guests rewarded me with a gift voucher after learning how I spend the contributed funds towards the project effectively.
