Firstly, their relationship enables them to discover and study an inexplicable pattern of death after an attempt is made on the life of Veronica. They discover that almost all wealthy women have left a couple of bequests to the church. Holmes motivates Russell so that she can take the role of heiress and insinuate her into the leadership of the temple. Holmes appears to be more supportive of Russell even under challenging circumstances. For instance, when Margery encounters serious injuries, both Russell and Holmes agrees to help Margery out of her critical health conditions. Russell sacrifices her time by praying that Margery is healed while Holmes favors Russell by partially taking Miles's rehabilitation (King, 20).

Secondly, Holmes intervenes to rescue Russell from the kidnapper who later she identifies out of Margery's husband descriptions. While in prison, Russell is injected with toxic drugs such as the heroine. In the process, Holmes helps her partner to overcome the effects of drugs by ensuring that Russell is no longer reliance on drugs. While in prison, Russell falls into deep thought, and she contemplated her love for his partner, Holmes, when she was struggling to save her life. The contemplation shows how the two characters are united towards solving the mystery.

After some given period, Holmes and Russell agree to follow keenly and find the fate of Margery. By that time, Margery was away to confront the Claude since he felt disturbed by his actions regarding Mary. In the event of confrontations, chaos arises where Claude is killed while Holmes narrowly escapes death while Margery is wounded. However, the experience made Russell and Holmes admit the fact that they had a great passion for each other. In other words, out of the struggles of solving the mystery, the two realizes that their relationship is unique and of such great importance to the lives of many people.

Additionally, the relationship between Holmes and Russell brings a vital notion concerning the gender equality to all individuals. For instance, the relationship reveals that women are no longer inferior but have equal chances just like men. The Russell and Holmes partnership enables individual to learn that men and women are created in the image of God. Therefore, what men can do they can do it even better.

The relationship has turned Mary Russell to emerge as an intelligent woman such that she can face the world without any fear. In fact, she has bloomed under the support and protection of Holmes (King, pg19). While Russell steps up and takes the lead towards solving the mystery, Holmes makes a back seat such that he is ready to sacrifice his life for the sake of Russell. Surprisingly, the Russell and Holmes relationship motivates Russell to put her life in danger to the extent that she uses her wealth as bait to individuals responsible for terrible crimes. Through the support of Holmes, Russell leaps into the activities of the temple an event that threatens her life.

In the course of their relationship, Russell develops mysticism and deepening affections towards Holmes. The love makes her build a robust fervent feminism period and the general crushing of the social order. Most importantly, from the novel, we learn that Holmes was very arrogant in the beginning. For instance, he disregarded women in the sense that he was gender biased. His relationship with Russell transforms him into an honest and responsible man in the future. For instance, in all his ways, Russell would keep checking on him (King, pg 33).

After one of the educated women is murdered, Russell and Holmes coordinate to recover the brother of dead woman. From the novel, Russell persuades Holmes to give her support and encouragement towards solving the mystery. In the process, Holmes appears to be more occupied. As a result, Russell grabs a chance to learn and understand the deaths of other temple members and hence she finally makes an approach of investigating the matters beyond the deaths.

The relationship between Holmes and Russell is remarkable. Russell confirms that she has an occasionally remarkable experience by working with an individual who inspires her by contribution and not by vacuum. The two partners are much dedicated to solving severe cases such as murders and finding a solution over the same.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the above novel is known to be another thrilling mystery. The tale lives up to several satisfied promises of the past. Russell and Holmes's relationship serves paramount importance towards solving the mystery. For instance, the two characters work jointly to fight the issue of crimes and murders that are rampant in the society. They are united in the sense that they can rescue each other from life threats.
