Introduction
Human resources professionals and recruiters often find it hectic when selecting the best-qualified job-seekers. This is because a majority of the candidates may seem to have the minimum required qualifications, therefore, making the selection process difficult. However, there are several methods in place to assist HR professionals in attaining the best results for a quality applicant. As a recruiter for a hotel manager, I would apply these three recruiting methods to end up with a quality applicant: developing a well detailed and accurate job description, use of employee referrals, considering past applicants. The strategies will be discussed in detail as well as their suitability to recruitments in the hospitality industry.
Developing a Well Detailed and Accurate Job Description
A well-detailed and clear job description is the first step towards attracting the best-qualified candidate for any recruitment. As a recruitment professional it is my responsibility to come up with a clear job description in order to attract the right candidates for the position (Zojceska, 2019). In the job description, I will include the responsibilities of the hotel manager, the expected performance standards, and the knowledge and skills the candidate needs to have acquired to qualify for consideration for the job. This way I will be able to attract only applications for competent and qualified applicants for the Hotel manager position. The strategy will eliminate the hassle of having to go through a load of resumes in search of candidates that meet the minimum requirements to consider them for an interview (Zojceska, 2019).
Use of Employee Referrals
Employee referrals have lately proved a success in recruiting qualified professionals in the hospitality industry. It is actually the most effective recruitment method presently as most qualified candidates are easily convinced by word of mouth as considered to written advertisements (Zojceska, 2019). Highly qualified employees in the workplace are also more likely to have equally qualified candidates in their social and professional circles, as well. Recruiting a hotel manager through referrals from my employees will ease their settling process as he/she will already have known about the company's details through the referee. The referred candidates are also likely to have attained useful experience elsewhere for them to be associated with my company's employees. Additionally, the referred candidates will have an idea of what is required of the hotel manager position in the daily running of the business (Radhika, 2018).
Considering Past Applicants
I would also consider previous applicants for the position that did not meet the cut during the previous recruitment die to various factors. Previous applicants are likely to have gained more knowledge and perhaps experience for the position and thus would offer quality candidates for the hotel manager position (Radhika, 2018). Previous applicants also have an idea of what is expected of the manager, having been interviewed previously, and thus would have an easier time taking over the position. I would, therefore, revisit resumes of past applicants as they must have picked a skill or two since the previous interview besides being familiar with the structure of the business.
I believe the above three positions would lead to the consideration of the best-qualified seekers. Developing a well detailed and accurate job description will attract only applicants who consider themselves qualified. Employee referrals and past applicants will not only provide me with skilled applicants but also give the new hotel manager an easier time adapting to the hotel's business structure.
