The Abstract: Was It Concise and Explanatory?

According to Hudson-Barr (2004), in a measure to determine a good abstract, it needs to provide self-contained, powerful and short statements describing a given study. As for the case of this abstract, it provides the scope, purpose, results, as well and the contents of the work delivering on its quality. Through its scripting, it offers precise and explanatory information regarding the entire research along with providing relevant information that explains the contents of the study considering the critical parts of the analysis.

The Research Question: How Easy Was It To Find And Identify?

As Bannister, Park, Taylor, and Bauerle (2015) provide the need for research; they deliver a significant need for research and derive the appropriate information about the study. The research question was straightforward to find as (Bannister et al., 2015) deliver relevant information within the research question. The research question involved the explanation behind reluctance among Christians for seeking marital counseling due to expectations and preferences of counseling techniques.

Identified Limitations of the Research

Within the article involving social work and Christianity, there were different limitations of the research identified. The report delivers a cautious use of the content within the article considering that the homogeneity of the used sample strongly influences the findings of the study. The mere fact that researchers and practitioners are asked to use the conclusion with caution sets a limitation of the research since a majority of the sample or participants to represent a conservative Christian congregation (such as the Catholic, Vineyard, and Pentecostal). According to Bannister et al. (2015), another limitation of the research revolves around the occurrence that the research sample represents significant ethnic populations of Los Angeles; however, the analysis excludes the Hispanic populations. It delivers a significant impact to the research hence creating the need to use the findings and conclusions of the study with caution (Bannister et al., 2015).

Moreover, some survey questions used to set a considerable limitation of the research. For instance, some of the presented survey questions posed a problem to some of the participants. The survey questions were submitted in a matrix form which requires the participant to check boxes vertically and horizontally. As a result, the use of this kind of survey method or questions did not deliver an enforcement mechanism thus creating a loss of valuable information posing a limitation of the study. Also, age and ethnicity are among the essential factors within the review of the research. A significant constraint revolved around the investigation concerning the association between past satisfactions of clients with different age, ethnicity, along with the counseling providers (Bannister et al., 2015). The conclusion delivered a marginal significance from the numbers resulting from the limitation of the research.

Recommendations for Further Research

Since the study was viable with current, prior and prospective clients from the different denominations, a survey with Christian couple clients enrolled in counseling would play a significant role in providing more information. As a recommendation for further research, according to Bannister et al. (2015), the use of comparative analysis between counseling services and clients' expectation would provide a high benefit.

Also, as a result of the limitations of the research concerning the use of the paper-and-pen matrix, future studies could assume the use of an all-electronic matrix form of the survey. The recommendation for future research entails the involvement where the survey questions are delivered to the participants face-to-face and with the use of handheld electronic devices. Furthermore, a suggestion for future research was made revolving around the need to compare the results and findings of this study with future studies covering more adequate proportions (such as the inclusion of Hispanics population).

Article 2: Peri, T., Hasson-Ohayon, I., Garber, S., Tuval-Mashiach, R., & Boelen, P. A. (2016). Narrative reconstruction therapy for prolonged grief disorder--rationale and case study. European Journal Of Psychotraumatology, 71-11. doi:10.3402/ejpt.v7.30687

The Abstract: Was It Concise and Explanatory?

Through the detail for the abstract, it provides relevant information about prolonged grief disorder (PGD) which sets the basis for the entire rationale and case study. It provided concise information especially with the provision of subtopics within the abstract outlining the objective of the study, methods used, results, and the overall conclusions. In more details, the abstract was explanatory as it also ensures a proper background for both prior information on Narrative Reconstruction (NR) along with integrative therapy module concerned with post-traumatic stress disorder.

The Research Question: How Easy Was It To Find And Identify?

As Peri et al. (2016) deliver a case study regarding the narrative reconstruction therapy for prolonged grief disorder; there is much information to the rationale making it difficult to determine the research question. However, with the availability of a background, objective, and a significant methodology, it helps deliver the research question. The research aims to answer the question regarding the involvement of Narrative reconstruction in prolonged grief disorder (PGD).

Identified Limitations of the Research

Within the research involving the narrative reconstruction therapy for prolonged grief disorder rationale and case study, there are different limitations of the research majorly affecting the findings as well as the conclusions. For instance, the lack of session-by-session assessment delivers a significant barrier to the study. According to Peri et al. (2016) the lack of session-by-session evaluation provides a limitation whereby; it limits the identification of potentials contributions of given interventions to the reduction of symptoms. With the activities and research regarding this type of research, the validity of data and report is critical especially in delivering substantial findings from the study that help in answering the research question (Peri et al., 2016).

Along with the limitation on the lack of session-by-session assessment, another limitation of the research involves the composition of the Narrative Reconstruction (NR). The Narrative Reconstruction is composed of both a meaning-making process and a memory organization process. However, it is difficult to differentiate the unique contribution of each making it a challenging to clarify the actual answers and solutions concerning the research question. As a result, creating a limitation of the study. Moreover, the inadequacy of using other reliable and efficient elements that could deliver a therapeutic effect (such as behavior activation) provides a limit to the NR which equally serves as a limitation to the research (Peri et al., 2016). Although there might be other limitation of the study, one of the significant limitations majorly affecting the findings and conclusions of the research revolve around the composition of Narrative Reconstruction and the overall assessment of the available interventions.

Recommendations for Further Research

Regardless of the limitations of the research, they helped in delivering a recommendation for further study. For instance, with the aim to resolve the issue concerning the lack of proper assessment providing preliminary support for the adoption of NR, the use of larger samples is a recommendation that would help especially for further research. Also, considering the NR composition, further research would seek for the evaluation and use of larger scale dismantling studies meant to aid in clarifying the details of the research question as well as providing accurate information regarding the involvement the study. There was also the recommendation for specific follow-up for further extended periods which would ensure the determination of any changes during the therapy in future research concerning this hypothesis.
