First, access to abortion has been made legal and is constitutionally supported by many Americans. However, the anti-women's health policymakers are making it hard for women to access the services because they believe abortion will result in depression and pain attack to women; therefore, most women are fighting through court and legislative restrictions on abortion services. Historically, various methods of carrying out abortion have been documented. According to Black and Derek (p.620) abortion is portrayed as a universal phenomenon; thus it is impossible to create an environment that it would not occur. It is the woman's right to decide when to have the children and when not to have a child.

Importance of the topic

However, in a situation where the health of the mother is at risk then it is necessary that abortion is done. From an ethical perspective, to continue or terminate the pregnancy is a personal choice that should be done by the woman and her family as stated by Miller and Jason (p.615). When abortions are legal, and there is access to services, it saves women's lives because professional physicians will do them. Furthermore, legal abortion will eliminate various forms of discrimination against women who have done abortion in society, and health service providers will also undergo training to provide safe and accessible abortion services. Access to abortion services will reduce women's deaths caused by abortion because professional providers will render the services.

Conclusion

Abortion is a personal choice because it involves a woman's body and future. The women have their reasons for carrying out abortion, and it should be respected. Abortion is safer in countries that have legalized the services and dangerous in countries where women cannot access these services; hence they end up doing it by their own which may result in the death of the woman.
