Some argue that alcohol is critical in the development of the Canadian economy by the rate of consumption leading to the rise in the Gross domestic product. Alcohol is however associated with the several cases of ill-health and diseases. Is it better to have a nation with higher Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and an equally high number of sick individuals? Firstly, alcohol does not only impact on an individual's health but also affect the non-users in the different ways. Alcohol is the leading cause of the various forms of crimes. Rape and other forms of assaults, child abuse and other forms of domestic violence are perpetrated by those who are in one way or another, under the influence of alcohol. Alcohol should, therefore, be banned in Canada.
