Introduction
The culture of Texas is known for its extremely confident contention that everything is bigger and better in Texas. The common religion that is practiced here is Roman Catholicism, while other denominations include Methodist and Baptist. Texans can be said to be typical southerners because their values are conservative. Topics like politics and abortion are likely to be highly controversial due to the highly religious demographics of the state (Fehrenbach, 2014). My culture, of the Middle East, is diverse and varied because various historical movements and civilizations have influenced it. The US representative for 30th Congressional District of Texas is Eddie Bernice Johnson, serving her 10th term. She comes from a background where struggle and racism was a common thing. The cultural background of the US representative is different from that of the Texas District. For instance, while the Texans appear more conservative in most issues, such as gender and role of women, the cultural background of Eddie Bernice Johnson has more of liberal and democratic viewpoint. The major disagreements of these two cultures are on the issues of authority and sexual matters. These differences can be worked out by finding a common ground of the varied viewpoints ("Who Leads Us?", 2018).
One of the issues that Eddie Bernice Johnson has taken a stand on is healthcare. It is the responsibility of the Congress to properly for the health and welfare of the US citizens. Eddie Bernice Johnson took a stance on the issue by supporting President Obama's Affordable Care Act, and Medicare and Medicaid, which provides care and support for most Americans. I think the state should continue with Affordable Care because it is its responsibility to provide advanced, efficient, affordable health care possible. The issue of Obama's Affordable Health Care could receive some objections from the Republicans because they will consider this as an unnecessary expense to the government.
To pass the policy into action, the representative should lobby the congressmen and women into supporting it. However, even though the decision rests in the hands of top government officials, a participation of the citizens will influence the outcomes of the decision. I will activate the people into supporting the policy issue by educating them on the benefits. Involving the community would rally the support of various interest groups whose influence cannot be overlooked. Interest groups have been known to cause tremendous revolutions in the American history. If the efforts are successful, the policy put into practice, and the policy goal achieved, a majority of Americans will access affordable care and support, as well as health covers. The government would also increase funding that will improve cost-effectiveness and efficiency of the healthcare treatment plans.
