How would you deal with advice from people concerning eating plant products only? What is your approach concerning the idea of veganism? Is your path influenced by your friend's decision, scientific or religious facts? Most of the times, people disagree on the issue of one becoming a vegan. About this, it is worth identifying that many differences exist in people's views on the decision to becoming vegans. There exists a wide range of opinions towards the issue of veganism. Mehta argued that there exist many scientific pieces of evidence that backs up the point that vegetarian diets are more of significance and more advantageous when a comparison has been made on foods that are rich in animal products (Mehta 4). Butler is in support of the fact that by practicing or relying on plants products in the foods, is much of benefit to the life of an individual (Butler 2). The two, Mehta and Butler, are in agreement on science that becoming a vegan has many advantages. Mehta and Butler have successfully communicated that being a vegan, benefits individuals in terms of health, Spiritual or environmental.
Mehta and Butler have each outlined five benefits of veganism. The explanations given by Mehta and Butler differ in their explanations. Mehta has explained benefit veganism which are, mood improvement, reduced risk of developing cataracts, reduction of blood cholesterol levels, and lowering risk of diabetes. Butler has given out veganism benefits which are, making individuals have no animal fats, a reason for various illnesses and conditions, reducing cancer risks, its benefits of improving the health of bones, improving the health of the heart, as well as providing protection against chronic diseases. Both are in agreement in the interest of the interest of good health. In details, Mehta has argued that as a vegan, one is free from chances of being exposed to diabetes. There is also information that that veganism has an effect of making an individual have an inverse proportionate to the risk of developing diabetes (Mehta 5). This is How Mehta has approached the benefit of good health. On the other, the information as presented by Butler on the benefit of veganism on the individual on the health concept consists of the argument that it protects an individual from contracting the chronic disease (Butler 3). Also, there is an explanation that veganism helps individuals to have bioactive compounds that are responsible for controlling biological factors. Such compounds are noted to have the capability of countering factors that lead to chronic diseases.
Individuals who avoid consuming animal products and embracing only plant products, enjoy environmental benefits. Mehta has also argued that veganism is also beneficial to the environment as it cuts down the production of methane gas by cows. Butler has put forward that meat production requires much amount of energy. Another benefit of veganism is that it helps people in preserving species and habitats. The behavior of consuming animal products is the reason behind the act of destroying habitat as well as causing animal extinction. Consumption of animal products is also connected to the production of wastes. Veganism has an effect of avoiding production of animal foods; hence the residues are not made, which is a advantage to the surrounding as smells of animal products wastes are not possible.
Apart from health and environmental benefits, it is worth noting Veganism has moral and spiritual benefits. About this Mehta has put forward veganism assist the individual in acquiring virtues that are important in launching that are used for contemplation. Mehta has identified one of the attributes as gratitude that can be obtained having a deep appreciation of our existence that has it that the life of human beings is interrelated with others (Mehta 3). The significance of this is that individuals will focus on one another and in this way, it teaches how one can be responsible. The implication of this is gratitude. As a result, veganism has an effect of helping an individual in shifting from self towards others. Other virtues identified include making people disciplined and having humility. Butler has the information that veganism has spiritual benefit as it is against the actions of harming animals (Butler 3). This is very useful in the religious practices of the ancient Jainism, and Hinduism. The main argument here is to make individuals abstain from killing animals.

Even though veganism is a progressive way of thinking, it is becoming a lifestyle that many are starting to consider based due to its benefits. As Mehta states, veganism is a boon to the health of the individuals. Advantages of veganism are associated with proper planning characterized by consumption of supplements. This being the case, the deficiencies will never take place. Similarly, Butler has concluded that an individual should ensure that the plant-based diet requires careful planning to maintain the balance of nutrition. Veganism makes people more prone to a lack of essential nutrients. An individual who has decided to practice veganism should avoid any chances of consuming animal products in a gradual approach. Veganism makes people slim, and there are low chances of developing obesity, hence making them less prone to cardiovascular diseases.
