To achieve this goal, companies require the integration of collaborative technologies firmly into the processes while implementing and creating awareness about collaborative behaviors (Wallace, 2013). For instance, the goal of collaborative technologies in the insurance industry should be to improve the speed and effectiveness of underwriters in pricing insurance policies (Wallace, 2013). Moreover, companies are using Facebook-driven social platforms such as Jive, Chatter, Yammer and crowdsourcing tools like AnswerHub to interact with clients and the entire supply chain to boost the business outcomes (Rho & Vasilakos, 2017). The collaboration information system technologies provide guidance on how to optimize specific processes within a company to increase productivity and quality. The use of social workflow systems builds a foundation for a collaborative environment that guides employees via optimized work plan standards, templates, and tasks. In this case, tasks are laid out in advance and teams can share updates, conduct discussions, review checklists and retrieve approvals from the management (Hamilton, Kass & Alter, 2018).
Most importantly, companies use collaborative technologies to unleash the potential of the organizational talent and shape a collaborative culture that is result-oriented. Information system specialists argue that the best collaborative technologies support and guide how people work today and into the future. Similarly, the technologies should encourage, shape, and incentivize the desired collaboration culture in an organization.
