Introduction

The Avengers Endgame movie is one of the films that instil a significant political meaning on the viewers that individuals should watch. The primary character is Thanos, who is a multi-dimensional character appearing in most American comic movies published by Marvel Comics (Feige & Russo, 2018). The character created by writer Jim Starlin is seen clashing with many heroes. In this article, we are looking at the rise of the supervillain. Like in most political arenas, some leaders from different countries have always secured their chances to power through unethical means. Same way, the ever antagonist climbs his way to the peak of world domination and annihilation not only by possessing an impressive view but also satisfies the viewer's emotional quotients. Thanos intends to sweep half of the universe not because the activity is funny but to achieve some balance among the living creatures.

Besides, Thanos feels the universe can destroy itself due to overpopulation and so, he devises a way to avoid such an occurrence. By doing away with half of the universe population, a merciful action in his view, Thanos feels that the future generation could thrive. Like other leaders in the world, Thanos is seen to be applying utilitarianism as a moral theory since the action he is yet to take is right for the resulting value. The ethical theory of utilitarianism states that ' An action will then be said right as long as it satisfactorily causes good consequences compared to alternative actions and vice versa' (Feige & Russo, 2018). The cost-benefit analysis of killing half of the population in an attempt to balance the community validates Thanos intentions as the future population would have a more significant impact during their period of existence. Various leaders in the world do make some ruthless decisions regardless of their aftermath on their subjects. Thanos is conditioned by Red Skull to lose what he loves most in acquiring the Soul Stone, one of the six Infinity Stones. So, he tragically sacrifices his beloved adopted daughter Gamora to obtain it as shown in the movie 'Avengers Endgame'. According to Categorical Imperative Moral theory, all actions are right according to the reasons they are performed (Wessel, 2019). Since Thanos' act of sacrificing Gamora was aimed at getting the Soul Stone which would then help him in meeting his intentions of balancing the population, there was an evident justification of the killing.

Some leaders have also applied such crafty methods in rising to power which is always an irrational way of acquiring capabilities. According to Thanos, there is no offence in killing Gamora since the activity is meant to save the future generation by decreasing the population using Soul Stone. This, in turn, creates an incredibly emotional experience among viewers. Thanos, like most political leaders, was a mighty Titan who could put up a fight against the other Infinity Stones without his gauntlet. In the comics, he can beat down the Silver Surfer. His real abilities, however, are depicted when he gets time to prepare for the fight. At the same time, regardless of all the powers he had, Drax, a fictional character appearing in most comic books was capable of sensing and killing him due to Chronos, a character who was imprisoned by the mad titans (Wessel, 2019).

In a statement, 'When I am done, half of humanity will still exist', Thanos tries to save the world from extinction and not destroy it. The political leaders tend to assure people that their motives are positive and entail caring for humanity. Thus, they devise a maxim that justifies their intentions which considers whether the maxim is conceivable in a world governed by the law of nature. This depicts a rational behaviour that would be rational for everyone depending on how one argued. Thanos actions could be ruthless; he would be cruel at times and even mourn like the case of Gamora and show compassion at the same time by actively supporting his acts using sensible explanation. A moral theory of utilitarianism is seen in practice as Thanos considers all the good and bad consequences when deciding if the action of sacrificing his adopted daughter (Wessel, 2019).. Due to the fact Thanos wanted to save the future generation by balancing the population, it is right to kill her daughter since the cost-benefit analysis had much impact, a large number would be saved.

In the Marvel comic editions, heroes are seen disintegrating out of existence before audience faces with the last remaining rooted to the reality of failure. The antagonist is finally at peace, knowing the gruesome act is undertaken. Thanos is seen to agree with any situation that he bumps into as he disagrees about what counts as good or bad (Wessel, 2019). According to him, all actions are right for reasons. His arguments are universal and impartial since he believes that in virtue of being rational, one would have personal justifications.

On balance, Thanos ideologies are therefore acceptable due to the fantastic emotional experience they are causing on the audience since it has various mutual lessons. The way the character is ruling his subjects depicts different leadership structures that exist in the global political arena. Individuals can, therefore, learn to understand the existing political activities after watching the movie.
