Introduction

The poor people in Texas are the ones most in need of consideration. All extra resources should, therefore, be allocated towards helping these people. Even though the poverty rate in Texas is relatively low compared to that of Urban Dallas and Houston, there is still a great need for uplifting the standards of these underprivileged people in society. In this case, scholarships should be awarded to those who are most in need. As explained by political scientist Harold Laswell that at its most basic level, politics is the fight of "who gets what, when, and how." Political influence has, therefore, played a significant role in the distribution and allocation of resources (Abubakari, 334-340). As a legislator, all future decisions on resource allocation should be focused and propelled towards uplifting the poor people in society. This will give them a fairground and equal opportunities to compete favorably with the upper classes of people and thus participate in nation-building and the community they live in. This would also mean that political influence should not be used as a deciding factor of resource allocation. This is due to political leaders who may use their power for selfish gains like favoring only people of a particular class or those they are alienated to and neglecting others in the society they serve.

One of the advantages of my decision-making process is that of autonomy; that means time and resources have been saved. The second advantage is that of accountability; I can be held responsible for any inconvenience that may be brought about by my decision. Lastly, rationality has been employed in this decision-making process since I know the problems faced by the people of Texas. I have also been focused on this entire decision-making process. One of the disadvantages of this decision-making process is that I have used my personal views and intuition, which may be biased. Also, I have only considered the interest of the poor people in society and have not taken into account the benefit of other members of the community. Lastly, this decision-making process is undiversified because it lacks the views and opinions of other people (Juneja, 10).

I grew up in Texas. Having experienced life in Texas, I'm well aware and conversant with the problems faced by the people of Texas. For a long time, the poor people of Texas have been neglected by their representatives. It is, therefore, my duty to ensure that these people are uplifted by considering them inequitable resource allocation. I believe that uplifting the sparse population in Texas will significantly contribute to the overall economic growth.

Voting refers to the formal attestation of an option between two or more candidates regularly manifested through a ballot or by a show of hands. Firstly, voting ensures a country's government works appropriately. This is because it allows the citizens to choose their leaders in the government, which takes part in the implementation and development of policies that will eventually benefit them. Secondly, voting gives a person the right to seek any clarifications from the government in the case of questions that may arise and requires the public to be involved. Also, voting is vital to maintaining the democracy of a nation since everyone's voice is being taken into full consideration and thus will make the country to be more reliable. Voting empowers social awareness since the citizens can be able to follow up on the leaders, they elected to ensure that they deliver on their promises that they made to the people. Everyone is entitled to vote irrespective of gender, class, and occupation; voting, therefore, ensures uniformity in the society. Voting enhances oversight of the government and ensures every civil servant is responsible. Lastly, polling not only provides citizens to vote for political parties but also assists them in realizing the benefits of their citizenship.

Civic issues refer to all those matters of public concern. They are of different kinds, like unemployment, economic inequality, and child labor. Being well informed helps the people to know how the resources are being allocated and used and therefore prevent matters such as corruption and inequality. It also enables people to become aware of their rights and responsibilities, especially on issues such as labor law and housing. This is important in that it reduces the abuse of these rights. Civic issues awareness also promotes communication between various sectors of the government, private and public, formal and informal, for the delivery of essential public services and protection of rights for all citizens. It also strengthens relationships between communities, institutions, and other stakeholders for the inclusion of unprotected populations. It also boosts reach to information and knowledge since people are curious about matters that affect them and their societies in general. Lastly, being aware of the civic issues around you enhance nationalism in that a person feels identifiable with his nation and support for its interests and her political independence and advocacy. (Vasquez).

When it comes to voting, it is my responsibility to my community to elect excellent and focused leaders who will play a significant role in the development and boost the economy. It is also my responsibility to encourage the youths and the elderly to take part in this process as it is their civic responsibility. The citizens should also be encouraged to follow up on their leaders and demand services from them. When it comes to public issues awareness, it is my responsibility to educate the members of my community on civic issues that affect them like unemployment and the abuse of their rights (Ronconi, 4). it will help them to be more conscious of their rights and know when abused. It is my responsibility to safeguard the interest of members of my community by protecting their rights, advocating for their employment, and calling out negligence and corruption by any of their representatives. Lastly, it is my responsibility to ensure the prosecution of any civic offender in my community and encouraging members of the community to be accountable and responsible for their actions concerning civil matters.
