Introduction
There has been increasing concern regarding the skyrocketing statistics in drug use and alcohol consumption among Australian youth, particularly under-age teenagers. Efforts to reduce this trend has led stakeholders, and charitable organizations to pull resources together to tackle this growing issue in the country. One such organization is the Ted Noffs' Foundation that aims to rehabilitate teenagers with predisposed addiction to drugs and alcoholism. Among its endeavors is the liaison campaign with the federal government to host experimental program's in youth conferences and gatherings as a way to curb the growing trend. In regard to this, the Ted Noffs' Foundation program can be presumed to aid in crime prevention. Hence, the aim of the paper is to discuss on the relation that the Ted Noffs' Program has with crime prevention among the youth in the country.
Ted Noff's Foundation
The foundation launched an initiative known as PALM (Program for Adolescent Life Management) as a means to preventing drug use and inebriation among adolescents. One of the main benefits that the program may create, in the long term, is to initiate a crime prevention strategy among the drug users and liquor consumers (Howard & Arcuri, 2005). Crime is a pertinent term that refers to the action or omission which constitutes an offence and is punishable by law. In real sense, crime participation can be rendered both directly and indirectly.
In cases involving the youth, criminal activities may be the sale or consumption of illicit drugs which are synonymous with adolescents who begin consuming drugs and alcohol (Noffs Foundation, 2017). With the increasing statistics that involve adolescents who are rehabilitated for drug use and alcohol consumption, it presents a worrying trend of how much criminal activities are occurring in the shadows. In relation to this, Ted Noff's Foundation's Program is a legitimate intermediary concept that will aid in preventing the rise in criminal activities involving the youth- who are seen as vulnerable individuals easily exploited by the organized crimes handling illicit drugs.
According to the recent program strategy, the Ted Noffs' Organization is willing to carry-out a mass administration test on youths attending a music festival. The idea is to administer test drugs which are clinically proven to reduce the urge to consume alcohol or any illicit drugs (CIC_Australia, 2016). With a high retention capacity reported on the drug test, the Ted Noffs' Foundation is proposing that the mass administration will aid in the reduction in addiction levels among teenagers. The supposition is that with increased consumption of the test drug there will be less consumption of alcohol and illicit drugs in youth gatherings or individually. From a long-term perspective, if the drug test works, it means that the Ted Noffs' strategy would work for the betterment of the alarming statistics currently documented. '
Conclusion
In summary, the Ted Noffs Foundation is a strategic partner to the Federal government in promoting a positive outcome to the current situation. With the growing upshots from the foundation on their increased retention among youths -both of indigenous and non-indigenous- capacities, indicates a strong reliance on the drug testing as well as the strategies that the organization uses in preventing addiction among teenagers. Therefore, the paper has determined that the Ted Noffs Foundation program, PALM, is suited in the crime prevention docket to sustain the country's current issues on crime prevention.
