Some like it hot is a movie that was done in 1959. It was directed and produced by Billy Wilder, Starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon. The film is all about two musicians dressed in drag to escape from mafia gangsters. The film is produced in black and white, despite color films taking much popularity. The film is set in the city of Chicago, during the prohibition era. Joe and Jerry form the plot of the movie.
Some like it hot film was a massive hit in the market when it was first released in 1959, but it was not watched by all since many had no opportunity of watching it. The film was hugely condemned by many organizations, both governmental and non-governmental. The national legion of decency and the Catholic organization significantly condemned this film. The movie acted as the watchdog for corrupt and abusive content because it was morally objectionable. Also, this film was seen as promoting and advocating for homosexuality and lesbianism. Also, there were regional decrees that were against this film. It was banned in many countries like Kansas.
Since its production, this film has been open to various reviews. Most people have been giving their reviews about this film, some positive whereas others negative. Despite the fact that most of the studies were positive, I disagree with this movie based on series of reasons. Whenever a film is being produced, the primary aim is to make the viewers learn something out of it. This is entirely different with this film. In my opinion, I did not see any positive message from the movie. This film is not supporting good morals that society deserves. The community is made up of different people, who view things differently. Such kind of movies only ruins the morals in the nation.
I am in total disagreement with this movie based on series of facts. When I was watching this film, I had high expectations, and I was expecting to learn positively from it, only to discover the contrary. Though entertaining, it was disappointing because there was nothing to learn. Being a movie produced way back 1959, I assumed that it could meet some moral standards. The way things were done earlier in those days is different from today. The films produced nowadays entirely lack good morals, to my surprise, this film, despite being built several years back, is as worse as some movies done nowadays. The following reasons outline why I am in total disagreement with this film.
Men dressing up like ladies
Men have been dressing up like ladies for comedy purposes. It all begun in stage performance but it has gone overboard with most of these stage presentations turning into movies and finally produced. Some like it hot film shows male characters dressing like women for convenient reasons. In the process, they are being entangled and are attracted to the beautiful women they meet. An incidence occurs where Marilyn Monroe innocently and playfully snuggles up in bed with Jack because she thinks Jack is a girl. The worst thing is that this promotes lesbianism, which is an immoral act. Jack had to exercise extraordinary restraints so as not to take advantage of this situation. This scenario where a man dresses up like a woman, making him privy to some intimate talks with women around is entirely an immoral act.
It's improper for a man to act and dress like a woman and then falls prey to the other women. Lesbianism that this simple act was trying to promote is utterly immoral. With such kind of films, lesbianism is on a rising scale. A lesbian is a woman who is a homosexual. The society nowadays is full of this kind of sexual behavior. Women want to marry fellow women. Men on the other end, wish to marry fellow men. It makes someone wonder where the world is headed to. Most film productions produced nowadays are full of same-sex marriages. People have deviated from what is moral to that which is immoral. Homosexuality and lesbianism have become the order of the day. No single movie can be produced today that has no such kind of acts. The genesis of all this is this film; some like it hot. It has brought about confusion in identity. It's becoming difficult to differentiate between a man and a woman. Both want to dress in a similar dressing code. Films such as this promote these immoral behaviors. I therefore totally disagree with it.
Sex and Nudity
The film has expressed series of scenes of nudity where Monroe openly shows her body in the movie. The body should be adequately covered, and at all times, the private parts should not be exposed. Nudity is defined in simple terms as the state of being naked. Human beings have a behavioral adaptation of wearing clothes, unlike animals. Now in the country where Monroe had to act while naked, showing off her body parts to the viewers, is immoral. Monroe wears a clinging, see-through dress, which shows her breasts. Monroe is also seen moving her body higher and lower with a teasing precision. All the times, Monroe is unaware of her nudity, she is seen singing "I wanna be loved by you" innocently, thinking that being nude is very innocent. To experience this scene of nudity, no male or female character is shown.
There are also several scenes where characters are seen kissing on a couch and after that no sexual activity taking place. There is a scene abroad a yacht where Tony is heard saying that there is no who can arouse him. Monroe takes advantage of this and tries her best to stimulate Tony sexually. Poured into a dressing code that makes her breasts to be seen like jolly treats for boys who are needy, Monroe seems entirely in need of sex at the same time she is causing men to melt and have a helpless desire. In the film, Jack says "look at that, look at how she moves. Like Jell-O on springs. She must have some built-in motor. I tell you, it whole different sex". This is wrong, because Monroe, is using her nakedness to make the men long for sex. Nudity is discouraged with all means possible, but films like this still promote nudity and make the viewers have a very negative perception of clothing. Young children watching this film will end up being corrupted. A young mind corrupted is not natural to bring back to normalcy.
Violence and gang
How hot was this movie as the name suggests? In my opinion, what has made this film hot are the negatives that it has. In most of the scenes, Jack and Tony are forced to pull on dresses to avoid humiliation by gangsters. Incidences of firearms are also evident the film. With most people watching this film, they will end up being violent because of the negative impacts they get from this film. Violence and gangster activities are seriously promoted by this film because it forms the plot of the whole films.
In conclusion, this is a film that I cannot encourage someone to watch because of the level of immorality it has. Also, there is no message or something to learn from it. Instead, it subtracts value from those watching it. People are expected to be morally upright, but films like this one, does not add value to one's life, but instead, it degrades one morally. I therefore totally disagree with this film.
