Concepts of How to Prevent Poverty

For a society to prevent poverty among its members, they have to be conversant with certain concepts like education, health, opportunities, and empowerment. These concepts are the conditions which cause unfavorable living among individuals when not monitored. When these concepts are well handled in the community, the underlying effects of poverty can be eliminated. To understand poverty prevention, one must understand how health affects society's capabilities. Poor individual's health makes them unable to work and improve their living conditions. It also leads to dependency due to health care expenses that strains a household's income. Individual's education can also depict poverty levels.

Illiterate people will never get platforms that can help them earn enough to support their families. Those with high education can find work and financially support their households. Empowering individuals help them realize their potential and what they are missing hence work hard to achieve them. Without proper motivation, individuals cannot find enough power to strive through poverty. Lack of equal opportunities in society has led to poverty (Erwin, 2008). Some communities like people of color do not receive the same opportunities as their counterparts. They end up living from hand-to-mouth hence deepening in poverty. Equal opportunities in all aspect like social, political and economic can ensure poverty reduction or elimination.

It is expected that with gradual improvement of education, health, opportunities, and empowerment in poor communities, the phenomenon will greatly reduce. Such can be drawn since individuals will be physically strong and have capabilities to earn a living and dig themselves out of poverty. To produce a richer community not only financially, but it will also be expected that the individual's physical and mental health be prioritized (Erwin, 2008). Through education, healthy lifestyles should be advocated for. Individuals will learn to take care of themselves as well as those around them.

Climatic Changes and Poverty in Children

A research was conducted on poverty by individuals like Alberto Minujin, Beatrice Mauger and Samantha Cocco-Klein. They linked the phenomenon to poor climatic condition. They researched poverty prevention by suggesting that children living in adverse weathers like floods and draught face more poverty danger (Mauger, Minujin, & Cocco-Klein, 2016). These authors conducted their research by collecting evidence presented by the World Health Organization and UNICEF on poverty in draught and flooding locations.

Study Findings

These researchers found out that children are most affected by climatic changes that contribute to poverty. Their findings also suggested that they were the best individuals to make a change and ensure favorable climates that could help reduce poverty. According to this study, land degradation by aspects like climatic changes has led to poverty. The research utilized data from net primary production to estimate degradation of land. They also investigated rural areas to determine land conditions from 2000 to 2010 (Barbier, & Hochard, 2016). They set up tracking devices to determine improvement or degradation of land over years and the impact caused on poverty.

Research Findings

It was found that the more land degrades, poverty levels increase. Climate was also linked to land degradation through droughts and floods. With these aspects, the land became useless most times of the year depriving individuals their livelihood (Barbier, & Hochard, 2016). Without rural production, urban areas also lost their source of food hence poverty.

By linking poverty to land use, it was clear that poverty could be controlled through cultivation. Better use and maintenance of land could help eradicate poverty. Individuals in rural and urban areas should ensure lands are taken care of every time. By doing this, poverty would be highly minimized.

Poverty is a dynamic and dangerous phenomenon. It does not stay in contact waiting for individuals to solve it like a puzzle. Therefore, individuals should not focus on its causes in an attempt to end it. They should, however, look into the future and advocate for what is required through education and empowerment.
