Trading of slaves was being considered as a cure to the need of workers in mines and mellowing farmsteads. Trans-Pacific slave trade entailed the exchange of captives with currency. It involved the use of dory that was propelled by wind over the Pacific Ocean within different states. Indigenous people were preferably used as captives. They were of different ethnicity, language, and of different religious dominions. They worked forcefully by monetary maximization regarding profits to the states that they worked for.
Spain slavery played a key role in the expansion of its territories and authority. Spanish slavery regarded the laborers as inferior as they were produced to them through generation and measure of wealth. Indigenous people underwent torture and harsh treatment by Spaniards. They were unable to resist since any resistance resulted in death as the Spaniards had superior tools for defense. Death rate tremendously increased since they had tactics in war and were versed with the use of weapons. They also suffered from starvation since they were denied food in as much as they worked. The indigenous people were attacked by diseases which weakened their immune system in addition to their cruelty that they faced. Racial segregation is a major factor too affecting them; they could not be given proper medical facility and had no care for any consideration of their state. Spaniards were much tactful and used 'Religion 'to overpower the indigenous people. This was much beneficial to them since they attracted many people for different things. They used the church to acquire more land and their well-being politically. This was financially enabling to them as the indigenous persons, on the other hand, were multitasked and brutally treated (In Bryant, S. K., & In O'Toole, R. S. 2017).
The natives suffered brutality and harsh conditions as they worked towards the Spaniards' success. Their immune system became much weakened therefore could not fight back diseases that were attacking them; as a result, they vanished. They were forced to gather gold within specified days failure to; they were killed. Most of the slaves could not cope up with this as they fled away in favor of their lives. The survivors were also recruited into Christianity and forced to work. The slaves that resisted at this point were recognized as part of landholders. This enticed them to work though forcefully. They were meant to believe that they would be served as per their wishes but in return, they were mistreated.
Rules and regulations were initiated to the captives as any light mistake was punishable. This made them live in fear of their lives. Their mind was also replaced and worked like the masters. Through this, they could work without any supervision because they had been completely brainwashed. The minors had begun acting like elites, and at this point, their rights and freedom had been brought in an open forum. That is; some sense of creativity drawn from their suffering and mistreat they underwent hit their mind. Their population had also declined due to both the external and internal threats that they faced; attack by tropical diseases with no cure. Spanish agricultural sectors flourished significantly due to improved labor. They also worked as underground miners. Even though this was a form of cruelty to them, they also learned some skills like mining, nursing, attack of an enemy and generally being survivors in hardships. They also had farming skills since they majored in the farming activities. They had also been recruited into Christianity where they worked according to the stipulated rules and regulations (Kiser, W. S. 2017).
Resistance by the captives led to the emergence of new reforms that were to favor them. There was a rebel which broke up between religion and political rankings in 1521, this was emphasizing on the captives enslavement. There was a divided mind about racial segregation and legality of slavery; as a result, this led to the implementation of new rules that protected the rights of the native's in1542. The Spanish worked towards spreading out their farm production to those of other states and cities. To put to thought, through the human rights and school, they tried to intervene on the need for their rights. Though the Spanish were self-centered and all the services received to them directly benefited them, they had agreed.
Having become much radical in 1573, the captives appointed leaders who were to represent them in legal and decision-making incidents. Most slaves at this period had been converted into their norms and cultures. Spanish had been converted to Christianity. They were also able to mix freely and interact with one another without any form of discrimination they were given some respect even though they differed in ideology. They split all over since they intermingled with one another. Initially, the Spaniards purchased also captives from Portuguese who did not directly engage in trade, fewer slaves were brought to the New Worlds, unlike the other states. They were regarded as private ownership since the other states would hire them for work or even buy them. Spain had a competitive advantage over the other states since it imported fewer captives as the previous ones worked much harder as they had experience and skills on how to carry out and work on specified fields (Newell, M. E. 2015). Black captives in Spain had become valuable to the Spanish households though not in large scale compared to the other countries.
The enacted laws favored the American and Indian slaves. This was seen regarding payment for the labor they gave them in return. These laws were highly resisted by the colonialist leading them to raise complaints and being against therefore they were partly enforced in these colonies. The colonies were under pressure of getting black slaves from Africa due to the laws that were against the slave trade in the countries they colonized. This was because the Africans slaves were cheap to acquire and they had no laws that could protect them against becoming slaves. The African slaves were later also recruited into becoming Christians. Church elders in the churches contributed the African slave influence in Christianity. The elders viewed slavery to be inhuman and unethical because of the cruelty that slaves passed through, therefore advocated for the end of slavery.
Effects of slavery had brought about negative implication to the Spanish economy. In 1536, there was a need for the blacks to work in farms and bring about rise in the economy and develop different sectors. Africans were also used in the protection of the Spain protectorates. They were also bought by the crowns and used in the construction of the forts, which were helpful in times of war. Some of the African men also worked in the ports of Portugal. They become mixed up and married native women. Men were used to passing and interpreting information to Africans. By this time, the African men had become experienced and were sent out for gold extraction, copper mines and general use of the skills they had learned. They had been strengthened and hardened into the New World. Therefore they became survivors. Tropical diseases could not attack them easily because they had a strong immune system.
Trade was the main subject that led to the availability of slavery. This was because of a colonialist decision of using production and mining as a basic source of their funds. Due to the mentioned interest that the colonialists were much into, the native people were considered to offer labor to the production and mining firms. As a result of hardship, the natives that offered labor died due to exploitation, war, and diseases. African slaves though had more advantage over the native's slaves because they were familiar with agricultural activities. Therefore, trade networks acted as a catalyst to the continuity of slavery due to the ease of selling and buying of products produced by the slaves and mines that were mined. The Spanish created a system that allowed selling of people into Spanish hence a high African population was experienced in Spain.
The Spanish and other European countries believed that Africans were the preferable slaves because of the low economy in the African countries. Therefore, slaves produced free labor which in return made agricultural products acquired at low prices. Trade routes were also opened up to facilitate ease on the spreading up of the Spaniard's crop and transformation of people's lives through baptism. Ships were used in the transportation of large commodities since the roads they used favored them. Slaves were also transported through ships since it was a cheap means of transport that linked the nations that engaged in the slave trade. Tradesmen followed routes that had widespread winds. This led to a large size of the market of the Spaniard products as the demand for the laborers rose beyond the population supply. Slaves were also used in the production industries which were profitable to the economy. Sugarcane plantations were the main economic activity in the time thus being considered to the economy (Samokhvalov, V. 2017).
The slaves were in demand of their rights after being overtaken by the majority. They became radical and expected their customs and norms to be taken into consideration. The stipulated rules and laws were being observed even in the midst of the majority. The interests and rights of indigenous people were taken note of and promoted. The movement of listening and considering of the rights enabled representation of the indigenous people in the hierarchy of leadership. They were entitled to special protection by the international law. How life was being perceived had changed totally irrespective of the social background and ethnicity. The indigenous people were treated specially since they were not to be exploited, forced to work and discriminated in any form.
Laws enacted in Spanish were to make clear observations of the indigenous people in the society. The laws were to ensure that no harsh decisions were made on the indigenous people to maintain their well-being. Indigenous people spread out and become productive to their lands. They contributed to wealth increment. This was achieved from the skills that they had learned as they grew crops on large-scale farms. They benefited as the other countries faced a major crisis of depopulation since they were not able to trade slaves. As a result of the increased wealth development took place as the economy grew gradually. Use of slaves in the firms was eliminated, contributing to the use of machinery that was used in production and the mining process hence the meaning of both activities. Spanish territories were expanded due to the higher speed of production and mining by the indigenous people. They significantly helped out the country economically and profit-maximizing in the business world. Indigenous people had also learned on communication which helped them understand one another easily.
Conclusion
The slavery was condemned and perceived unjust in America in the year 1542. Although the laws that were set did not end slavery completely as more and another new system of ending the slave trade was established. The abolition was an impact to the Spanish as they focused on the potential labor besides paying the employed. Slavery, in general, opened the new transport routes overseas that could enable transportation of products that were acquired from sugarcane companies and other companies like gold mining companies. Christianity is a tool for the eradication of slavery, many slaves were converted into the Christian dominion, and this led to harmonious well-being of the Spanish territories. The government also involved itself in slavery as a...
