Introduction
Shared leadership involves one or more people who come together to share an idea. The decision-making body lies with a group of individuals who decide what should be done. Shared leadership involves a lot of pulling up and down because of the limited resource. However, a shared leadership has certain benefits apart from getting information from different groups. Shared leadership combines experience and skills from different members and bring the data together (Choi, Kim, & Kang, 2017, p. 380). Shared leadership can either be formal or informal. Although many organizations use a formal system of leadership, other groups use an informal system to run such groups. Shared leadership is less rigid compared to other types of workmanship. A group leader proposes an idea and stays open minded to other ideas. The kind of leadership can be used by an organization that has many or fewer employees.
Transformative Leadership
Transformative leadership is one of the most effective qualities of a leader. A leader in such a position will be able to influence and motivate his leader to achieve certain goals. A good leader is often able to tap into the psychology of his/her followers.
Transformative leadership should be able to stimulate, influence and motivate different groups of people. A good transformative leader should be able to convince a multitude of people about the importance following a certain trend. Although some people may not heed the message, it is critical for the leader to keep up the spirit and mind (Choi, Kim, & Kang, 2017, p. 377). A good leader should, therefore, be able to know where they need to put effort when it comes to motivating a group of people. It is also crucial to understand how o deal with different groups.
Teams That Shared and Transformational Leadership Work Best
A good leadership style is effective in ensuring there is a smooth operation and different teams are performing efficiently. Transformational leadership can work well in an information technology industry because it is critical in promoting innovation among the company employees. The leadership style has also been found to be an essential component in improving organizational performance. Since team leadership requires close corporation between different individuals with diverse experience and qualifications, the results of the corporation often lead to achieving maximum gain for the organization. The behavior of a team leader will often have a profound effect on the structure and working process of the people he/she is commanding.
Vertical style of leadership can improve great results if the leader has the requisites qualities to lead his/her team. Most of the time, a team leader in a vertical system is appointed because of his or her experience and seniority. The team leader makes all the critical decisions and the subordinates are expected to follow the order. Other employees do not have a say as to whether the decision is good or bad. It is critical there to have someone who understands the task well to ensure the decisions they make is favorable to the organization and the employees will be able to implement the demands.
A horizontal or shared leadership is also essential to the organization because it encourages the sharing of ideas among different parties. A team tasked with solving a problem such as a construction firm employee will benefit from this leadership. The company leadership is shared among different people and the responsibility is distributed among them. A horizontal leadership is essential in providing a competitive advantage to the company because it ensures the organization and the team goals are effectively implemented.
A task that requires different expertise will gain from using transformational leadership. Such teams will be able to excel in their work because this style of leadership helps workers exceed their initial expectations. A leadership style that is transformational tends to change the way people think about certain issues and changes peoples values and personal interest. A healthcare facility is also another place that transformational leadership can excel. A leader who is able to motivate and instill pride in what the workers are doing will improve the health care services of an organization. Hospital employees who are happy and proud of what they are doing will transfer this positive energy to their patients.
Another sector that horizontal leadership can excel is in the hospitality industry. A team leader who is able to share personal morality and instill integrity in his/her employees will be able to produce great workers. The hospitality industry needs people who are motivated and are committed to accomplishing the organizational goals. Good employees in the hospitality industry should be people who can solve problems quickly without the need to consult the team leader. Team members under horizontal leadership view themselves as one body and strive to share ideas to ensure the company goals are achieved. Finally, shared leadership can be used in an organization or a team that needs to work as a close knitted body to achieve its target. A marketing team is one of such groups that can benefit from shared leadership. People who share ideas are able to achieve their targets because of the shared experience and skills.
