Revolutionary War: The Struggle for US Independence

The revolutionary war greatly impacted and shaped America we have today. It is due to the sacrifices of many figures who struggled to ensure that America gained freedom from England. Historical figures like George Washington played a significant role in the attainment of independence. Revolutionary war refers to a colonial war that took place between 1765 and 1783 whereby with the assistance of France, the American patriots won the war from Great Britain hence established the United States of America (Cogliano, pg 962). It is time the American rebelled the rule of Great Britan; therefore, many battles arose, and various colonies finally gained freedom and became an independent country.

Thirteen colonies rebelled and it is because of non-representation in the British government as the government continues making and implementing new laws and taxes on the provinces that had no power to articulate their right. Frequent protests and arguments later escalated into war until the American patriots gained independence. Despite all challenges and costs experience, the American Revolution led to a significant impact not only to the citizens but also the state and population around the world. The war enabled America to change government operations and significantly acquired financial independent until today. Many aspects of American life changed as a result of the revolutionary war, and indeed the events of our heroic forefathers created the America we have today.

Independence

After the American Revolution, each colony was able to own its government, and they had the freedom to elect officials who could represent then in the Continental Congress. It was a goal of the colonies that were achieved as they were able to unite and form a single government. A democratic government came up as a result of independence, and people had the freedom to elect their potential leaders and ensure power balance as no one could no longer be a King. The Americans now adopted their constitution and establishing a powerful national government which is in existence up to date. American radicals came up with a result of the warlike Thomas Jefferson and Samuel Adams, and they tended to object government power and viewed independence to be a source of securing home liberty.

Abolishment

With revolutionary war, abolishment groups were created that played a significant role in advocating for abolishing of certain aspects of life. For instance, before the American Revolution, many colonies faced challenges of slavery population as it was legally sanctioned. Many Africans were greatly affected as they were in bondage, and Georgia presented a broader community. With the revolution .slavery was abolished as a confederation prohibited extension of slavery to other territories. Many states primarily in the southern parts instituted laws than restricted importation of slaves, and this led to a population of free Africans, which significantly lead to the decline of slavery (Ray, pg. 405). For example, after the war, the African American in Delaware gained freedom as they were no longer slavery objects. Also, English traditions could no longer be tolerated; for instance, the inheritance laws were abolished.

The Anglican Church headed by the official head of the British Monarch did not survive, and indeed the changes were felt by the Americans. Some groups of people were significantly impacted as a result of the war; for example, the groups that were always not given equality measures like slaves and women were know valued as their rights became pronounced. The war had an impact on Native American as it accelerating the opening of western settlement as well it led to the end of the mercantilist type of economy hence opening more and new opportunities in trade for the American population. The England Empire had created restrictions on the economies regarding trade limitation, manufacturing and settlement by the American population. With the revolution, new markets and trade relationships were formed, and the American population created domestic markets that were free from restriction s and as well began creating their manufacturers.

Separation of State and Church

Independence meant that a new constitution was established. As a result, the United States was able to separate the church at both local and national levels since the Americans are Christians. Several states retained their church, for instance, New England State and with time it was able to abolish tax support system in the churches. This was a great accomplishment within the states and should not be taken for granted. The separation primarily focuses on prevention of allies between church and state that tend to corrupt the institutions. As well this could allow various denominations to be free and practice their religion in peace. To Americans, Christianity meant having an individual relationship with God. By the coordination of the church with the state, it said that it could destroy the involvement of people with God. The separation led to the freedom of religion which could dictate people towards their conscience.

Creation of Republican Governments

The revolutionary war led to the formation of republican governments as colonies had to institute written state constitutions and guided by bill of rights. The new laws led to equality as jurisdiction ensured that male suffrage without consideration of color was ensured. There was increased participation in politics by the Americans and legal institutionalization of religious tolerant, not forgetting the diffusion of the American population. With the new states being formed, new constitutions were drafted, and leaders were elected with strong legislatures, and this significantly increases the representation of the American electorate.

Bill of right was introduced, for example, in Virginia State and other states followed suit. The bill of right was aimed at protecting the rights of people in the countries. Like in Pennsylvania, a constitution was drafted that was democratic, and all men could now vote despite others not owning property to ensure equality for all people. There was a significant change in the political life of people through the creation of the republican governments. People actively participated in politics and had voting rights, and common men were allowed to participate in both local and state government.

Radical Consequences

With the revolutionary war, radical consequences emerged like in a case where the feudal land tax that was primarily paid to colonial proprietors was ended. All states terminated the sole right of inheritance to the firstborn son, and this could eliminate economic inefficiency feudal encumbrances concerning land titles, and this affected the patriarchal family as it undermined traditional rules of inheritance and thus created an opportunity for daughters and widows to have a right to own property. Changes were experienced even in language; for instance, White employees used the less servile word to refer to their employees that are boss. Americans thus became liberal and modern people in the globe. Revolutionary war radically changed the personal and social life of people as well as destroyed aristocracy within the states. Revolution ensured that respect was enhanced and dignity to menial laborers; thus, it did not only create the republican government but also played a significant role in reconstituting American state power.

Gender Roles and Race Equality

The revolutionary war impacted the gender roles and equality in various states. Before the war, women remained subordinate to men, but during the post-revolutionary time, the roles of women became distinguished. For instance, the mothers became recognized as they claimed a significant role in civic ethos and were inspired by through evangelicalism. A perfect example is Abigail Adams, who was a great republican mother and wife to John Adams. She became intelligent and addressed issues of power equality in the states (Chinchilla, pg. 83). The roles are evident from the evidence of a written book that entails the role of women like raising children, especially the girl child and midwifery. Women were now voting in state elections, and this enhanced equality. Revolution challenged inequalities as initially women were not allowed to participate in politics, the army and sciences which meant they were subordinate to the men. The legal discrimination was abolished, and revolutionary war allowed women to speak out their voice.

Conclusion

Revolutionary war spearheaded by our forefathers had a significant impact in the present world since, without the events, America could not be where it is today. Heroic individuals like George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and Alexander Hamilton played an essential role in shaping the current government. Indeed the war led to significant changes like abolishment in several perspectives, a gain of independence, creation of a republican government and above all equality, especially concerning the status of women in the society. Today America is a free democratic state with high standards of living among its population, and this was achieved through revolution.
