Genetic modification in biology was also brought up due to improved technology. The revolution of gadgets, manufacturing, and materials has improved the Americans' ways of living in many ways, the first one being the invention of smart materials. These smart materials such as clothes that respond to weather, personal recognition, and security structures and vehicles and buildings that automatically adjust to weather, therefore helping in increasing the lifespan of humans. In the manufacturing sector, Americans are now able to build and make things on their own because they have reduced labor on themselves with the introduction of robots (Collier, 1983). The revolution of technology has led to continued development. Although it has positive effects, it has brought class discrepancy where some are left behind since they cannot afford those new technological gadgets.
Revolution in Transportation and Industrialization
The Americans completed their first Erie canal in 1825 (Barlett, 1839) which led to the growth of America's economy because it made movements easier for people to move themselves and their things from one place to another. It also led to increased population and creation of employment due to the invention of roads, railroads, and canals. Expansion of markets also happened due to the new modes of transport. Revolt in the transport sector made slavery come to an end because they now had canals, vehicles, and trains to help them move things; therefore, they no longer needed slaves to do that work. This also brought about the growth of towns and cities and increased population due to immigration (, which further led to the coming up of industries because transportation of raw materials was now made more accessible.
The industrial revolution completely changed the united states until it eventually became the largest economy globally and the most potent worldwide superpower. Due to the already developed ways of transport and technology, the industrial revolution was easy to prosper. They established industries that produced goods for not only use in America but they started exporting them thus, creating revenue for the country. The cult of True Womanhood is an opinion about a woman suggesting that there are some roles a woman should do and not do. It also led to the formation of unions and strikes from the women. When this cult came to an end, there was a change in gender roles and family life (Locke & Wright, 2019). The rise of the cult of domesticity led to the formation of religious revival groups, which further led to the second great awakening that was against slavery and discrimination against women. Revivals were gatherings involving emotional preaching by evangelists such as Lorenzo Dow whose main purpose was to save the country from sin (Hewitt, 2013). The changes took the shape of social movements for women's rights and the end of slavery.
