Introduction
In recent years, cloud computing has fundamentally transformed from a value add to business necessity. More significantly, the rate of cloud adopting by businesses is on the rise, especially due to the rapid advancement of technology (Chou, 2015). The most commonly used service model include the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) (Shaikh & Sasikumar, 2015).
Cloud Service Providers
Notably, Amazon and Microsoft Azure are among the top-ranked cloud service providers internationally. Amazon is the most comprehensive service provider; for instance, its virtual server is a web-based service that provides a more scalable and secure computing ability in the cloud. The server enhances the accessibility of the web-scale cloud computing by the developers. It also designed to reduce the time for obtaining and booting new server instances; thereby, allowing rapid scale down or up the capacity.
Virtual Servers
On the other hand, Azure’s virtual server ensure that virtualization is more flexible without maintaining the hardware (Copeland et al., 2015). For Amazon, the user can only pay for the used capacity, and the Azure virtual is more secure and adopt the pay-as-you-use model. As Amazon adopt the use of IaaS, Azure utilizes the PaaS as the service model. Amazon Batch allows developers to run numerous computing tasks effectively and efficiently (Narula & Jain, 2015). It provides the optimal quantity of resources, including CPU depending on the volume and resources needed to submit the batch jobs (Jula et al., 2014). With this batch, there is no need to install the server clusters to run the job.
For Azure Batch, it helps in running high performance and parallel computing batch tasks efficiently. Amazon S3 is objective storage that provides top-notch scalability, security, data availability and performance (Narula & Jain, 2015).
Conclusion
In comparison, Azure Blob storage can be optimized for storing high capacity data, including binary data or text (Copeland et al., 2015). Also, Amazon offers the most cost-effective set of analytic data service that runs the data lake. In contrast, Azure offers a set of big-data solutions for storing, gathering, analyzing and virtualizing data.
