Introduction

Powell has proposed the adoption of the Mormon irrigation project in Utah based on its previous success. He traversed through the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon and wrote the report, where he told the Congress that the 160-acre homestead would be hard to manage during the dry season. He proposed that the government built water resources such as dams and canals and organized landowners to manage them. Powell also proposed that the government reconsider not selling all the land and instead reserve 2 acres and make it a national park. John Muir's contribution is precisely through Roosevelt. He acted as Roosevelt's tour guide in Yosemite Valley, which triggered Roosevelt's love for nature, and he ended up implementing regulations to protect the environment (Henretta, 2011).

Natural Resources

On the other hand, Roosevelt proposed that natural resources should be conserved. He also proposed that the river systems turned into national water highways. Irrigation should be advanced, forests should be protected, and trees could be lumbered instead of completely cutting down the tree (Henretta, 2011).

Today's issues are similar to the Gilded Age in that both governments are seeking to reconstruct the environment. Global warming is gradually increasing, making the world slowly unbearable to live in. In both eras, environmental destructions occurred as a result of human activities. Governments are urging people to plant trees and seek more alternatives to reduce trees' rate of cutting down, just as in the Progressive Era. This is the reason paper is recycled.

Conclusion

The difference between the eras is that currently, there are various options, such as solar, that can be used to reduce non-renewable resources. During the Gilded Age, there was no technology, which made conservation a bit hard. Also, currently, regulations have been implemented and tested. The government is working on advancing and tightening them. During the Gilded era, the regulations were still new, and they had low chances of succeeding.
