In a faraway land, there lived a king, his queen, a prince and a princess. This royal family ruled the land and lived together with several servants who were responsible for serving and protecting them. One of the servants was a young woman who had been hired at a tender age. Due to her diligence and impeccable work ethic, she gained favor from the king and with time became his favorite servant. As such, the king would always prefer to be served by her, something that made the other servants envious of her. This friendship grew over time, and the young woman soon became a confidant to the king. The king would request her to take long walks with him whenever he needed to unwind and free his mind. The king was particularly impressed by the young woman's intelligence and ability to offer advice regarding the monarchy and heirship. He thus trusted her with information and even told her some of his deepest secrets. The queen learned of this friendship and did not approve of it. She confronted the king and told him that it was not befit for the king to dine and engage with his servants. She also approached the young woman and told her to keep off, failure to which her contract would be terminated. The queen also demoted her and gave her the role of a ground woman who would tend to the flowers and water them. The king was against the mistreatment but the queen had the upper hand when it came to servants.

Despite the demotion, the king would always sneak to see the young woman and eventually fell in love with her. Their love grew without any suspicion from the queen and the young woman became pregnant. Upon realizing she was pregnant, the queen demanded to know who had impregnated her now that she was unmarried. The woman was so scared to speak the truth and was thus sent packing. On the other hand, the king learned of the incident and decided to own up, a decision that made the queen attempt to murder the young woman. Luckily, the woman learned about plans to execute her and ran away to an unknown place.

Years passed and everybody else apart from the king forgot about the incident. The king would try to no avail to search for the woman, who by this time had given birth to a boy. After many years of searching for her, the king gave up and settled on grooming his son for the throne, now that he was aging. However, his son, the direct heir to the throne suffered a car accident and died on the spot. This news devastated the king, who had to groom his younger brother with whom he never got along. Out of devastation, the king fell ill and was hospitalized. News spread of the king's illness, and the woman was moved by her love for the old man to visit him and comfort him. She went to the palace but was turned away several times before she accidentally met the king on the trail they had always taken while she was still his servant. Upon seeing her, the king was elated and invited her to the palace. Through the reconnection, the king learned that they had a son together and demanded that he be brought to the palace as he would be the next king.

However, due to protocol, the woman's son would be subjected to several tests to reveal if he was indeed the king's son. Among the tests were a DNA test and the "spear" test as was custom. The queen was totally opposed to the idea of the king passing down power to the young man and conspired with his brother-in-law to ensure that the young man failed the tests. On the day the new prince was brought, he received a warm reception by the king. The tests were arranged and the king, the queen, medical personnel, and some staff from the palace. The medical personnel wrongly convinced the attendees that the tests would be administered once and the results declared final. The queen had carried strands of hair that had been acquired from an outsider to influence the results. She therefore stepped forward upon the administration of the DNA test and pretended to assist in wrapping the specimen. During this time, she exchanged the hair strands without being noticed. Aware of the possibility of interference of the results, the medical personnel conducted the tests twice more and personally handed the specimen to the lab. Prince Henry was then taken through the "spear test" which he passed. The results of the DNA came out and only one sample had different results. The results of the two other tests were thus considered valid and Prince Henry was declared the next king.
