The poem is about the relevance of education in society and why society needs to appreciate and encourage it. The persona highlights some of the roles of education in society in that it is a source of real power, it provides peace, source of success and a great source of motivation. It is worth to appreciate the relevance of education in that it encourages a person to develop peaceful thinking and helps society to harbor valuable thoughts. The experience is a surprise as the man did not expect to meet Santa Claus and that he was not expecting such a visit. The idea that the poem is putting through is for people to appreciate Christmas day and take it as a day of being happy and enjoying life. Additionally, the poem teaches that the day should be meant for people to share with others. Figurative language employed in the story and this is evident in the part While visions of sugar plums danced in their heads to show how the children were enjoying the Christmas period and the good expectations they had for Christmas day.

The poem shows the impact of anger and in the first instance, the persona is angry with his friend and refuses to get into a quarrel and suggest that they communicate and bury the hatchet. In the second case, the persona is angry with his enemy and refuses to mend fences, this makes the feud between them to grow higher. The moment shown in the poem is that of anger and disagreement and the speaker is in a squabble with both his friend and enemy. The idea about life that the poem teaches is that when people talk about their problems, they find solutions faster and when they do not, the problems keep on growing.
