As we move across the realms of imagination and interact with the reality within the world, we can build personal paradigms; some of which are integral in shaping our future, thus remaining the test of time. Ideally, it is this model that became my major reason and conviction behind my decision to study literature. In this regard, I am applying to Georgia University's Ph.D. in literature program because I believe that its interdisciplinary approach to literary, historical scholarship, women studies, and feminism within contemporary cultural context will allow me to build the training I have received in my RMA, my scholarly concern mainly focused on cultural studies and social discourse with particular emphasis on women and feminism on different cultural studies. Poetry is also among my areas of interest and in my personal projects in literature these subjects have been my main area of concern. The rigorous nature of the RMA program instilled a strong focus on the individual research as well as through academic writing. I, therefore, believe that I am adequately prepared to pursue a Ph.D. program in Literature.

As a graduate student, I am invested in understanding cultural studies, social discourse primarily on women and feminism as expressed both in the 20th and 21st century. My seminar papers, as well as the conference presentation, have focused on various women issues within different cultural contexts. Specifically, my article, Beyond the Cultural Boundaries offers a comprehensive discussion about the marginalization of women who ultimately free themselves from the harsh and oppressive cultures that perceive them as inferior human beings and which do not deserve better places within the society. While my interests in issues related to women and feminism are vast, I have always found comparative literature to tremendously fulfill my intellectual curiosity and offer a sensible methodological foundation. This theoretical perspective and the challenging background that I have ever faced as a scholar have immensely propelled me towards pursuing a Ph.D. in Literature. This would also be an opportunity to involve me in these essential discourse through the guidance of an experienced literature faculty.

My very first encounter with the literature was at the University where I received admission to pursue Bachelor's Degree. Based on the interdisciplinary nature of the program, I was able to gain knowledge and skills through the examination of the feminists and queer theoretical perspective on the intersections of race or ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, religion as well as the other identities. As a major, the bachelor's degree was designed to impart critical thinking knowledge about the social construction of the identity, in addition to the politics of knowledge production. I have been able to utilize these skills to understand women's lives and feminism within a global context and analyze the system of oppression that has continued to contribute to various economic, political and cultural inequalities. I was further encouraged to apply theoretical knowledge and work towards examining social justice through participating in different experimental educational opportunities. The learning techniques required for this program, though, while following the designed curriculum enabled me to finish my degree, participate in the research project and later proceeded to a graduate school. As part of my RMA program, I have been able to focus on the comparative analysis of the literature on women studies with a focus on the African women and their European counterparts, in addition to the oppression that the former are subjected due to the cultural imperialism. Additionally, I was able was able to examine the manner in which colonization shaped the place of women in different contexts including among the First World Women as well as in African societies I believe that an opportunity to pursue Georgia University's Ph.D. program might further allow me to focus on a specific area that has received little attention from contemporary researchers such as the cross-cultural analysis on feminism without interference due to Euro-centrism. As a doctoral student, I intend to venture into literature research to assess the manner in which the feminism and women rights can be encouraged within different multicultural contexts and come up with the solution towards the women oppression. Upon completion, I plan to focus on teaching at the university as this has always been my passion. I would like to be a partaker of the milestones achievements that university makes through invaluable contributions especially to literature and specifically cultural studies, women issues, and feminism.

Conclusion

Georgia University's Ph.D. program in Literature is, therefore, the ideal place for me because I will be able to develop a mastery of literary comparative cultural analysis, with a focus on women studies and feminism. This move will consequently help me cultivate and nurture my potentiality in research. I plan to provide considerable contributions to the discipline's history, methodology as well as the theoretical concerns. Notably, the faculty's advocacy for the interdisciplinary literary and cultural studies as well as the college's mission makes the Ph.D. in Literature program unique from other programs offered in other universities. I am looking forward to engaging myself in research, experiments, and discoveries that will be able to increase the competitive advantages of your institutions among other universities regarding quality research.
