Introduction
I have heard about Zoom Meetings and its concept and how it is applied by business entities to break the boundaries of video conferencing, but I have not had the chance to apply it to my class work and courses. Zoom Meetings is a concept that makes learning more enjoyable because of the range of features such as the one-touch start and joins, group messaging and the virtual background features it offers. It is a comprehensive cloud-based video conference platform with high quality HD video and audio that can host up to 200 participants making it suitable for a classroom meeting (McCoy, 2015). Zoom's platform is very easy to use by students as the end users because it is not hard to navigate a typical meeting feature. Students have the option of muting themselves or turning their cameras on and off during the meeting (McCoy, 2015). Students also have the ability to invite new participants to the meeting, who can share their screen, enter the chat room or leave the meeting.
First time users require little to no training because most of its features are apparent and self-explanatory. The feature of Zoom meeting offers unlimited video meetings with a range of web and conferencing features, online support, group collaboration features that helps in sharing and instant messaging. Zoom meeting also offers custom personal meeting identifications, assign schedulers and schedules, reporting features and the ability to record (McCoy, 2015). The cloud recording makes learning more efficient because it can transcribe whatever is recorded during the meeting. The Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) simplifies the merging Zoom sessions with the course activity workflows. Zoom Meeting can be accessed through mobile phones, desktops and other conference systems making it easily accessible by students.
Some of the advantages of using a Zoom meeting are that instructors can use it to teach live classes online and share documents with the students because of the standalone app that supports desktops and mobile phones. More instructors are now using this software to deliver their lessons. Students need a meeting ID and link to access the scheduled lessons with instructors. With Zoom, it is possible to chat, use video, share computer audio and the instructors can use annotations like the whiteboard to teach which provide a good focus for students during the lesson (McCoy, 2015). Zoom is free for most of its users however it should be upgraded for lessons that take over 40 minutes or for the webinar. Zoom meeting provides a sense of professionalism between the students and the instructors or even between the student's groups as they interact online through the feature. With the advancements in technology, Zoom meeting provides an edge for both teachers and instructors with their students.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Zoom meeting features have made learning much easier because of the professionalism it demands of us and the accessibility of video conferencing between the instructors and students. Online learning is the way to go for many institutions, and with the help of Zoom meeting, it is now possible. Zoom meeting provides a platform where students and instructors can share information with its high quality features of HD video and audio. Zoom meeting is easier to navigate and share information, and it is possible to keep track of meetings because of its transcription features.
