Sand is just sand to many people, and one would be forgiven to think all sand is the same. However, Alam (2020) presents a good description of how to understand the properties of good sand. From the perspective of this article, and is presented as a construction material. As a construction material, the author advises that one should always seek to use the best quality of sand to get the best outcome in construction. Alam (2020) covers desirable properties if sand as follows. “…ranging in size from 0.06 mm to 2 mm. Particles which are larger than 0.0078125 mm but smaller than 0.0625 mm are termed silt” (Alam, 2020). The specificity in the guidelines shows just how important it is to consider sand quality. The article plays a considerable role in my research. Sand is primarily used as a construction material in my background. In this case, it is used to make concrete mixtures. On that account, the article forms the basis on which the research argument is based. Tis role of sand introduces my research on uses and applications of sand. Progressively, the study covers more construction uses of sand, but the concrete mixture use is the most basic of them all. Therefore, the article provides a strong base argument about this aspect. Other than being used as naturally occurring sand, sand is also used construction in its derivatives from manufacturing. The article forms the basis of his understanding by discussing the different properties of quality sand.
