Personal growth and development involve transformative antecedents marked by improvements physically, emotionally, intellectually, socially, and financially. These processes are spurred by different life events encountered, which, in a significant degree, inspires individuals to be self-empowered, thus striving to identify full potential. Usually, the expected impact of this is to live more satisfying lives. The development of every individual goes down to the simple psychology of one’s self. That means the development of a person is based on the events that happen in an individual’s life and how the individual chooses to define the events that occur in his or her life. Most scholars also argue that we are all subject to what happens and how we react in our daily lives. Reflection on its part is the conscious exploration of experience that one faces during development. These concepts of development reflection are explained through different models. Therefore, for this paper, I will examine my personal development characteristics based on the bio-ecological model of human development by Bronfenbrenner and Morris pertinent to existence. Some of the specific aspects to be discussed in this paper include specific details on who I am, my purpose in life, the legacy I want to leave, among many other concepts.

I have undergone the distinct growth stages of physical and biological development, according to Bronfenbrenner and Martin's bioecological model of human development from the infancy stage, childhood, and adolescent stages. Currently, I am in the early adulthood stage of development. My physical and biological development goes hand in hand with cognitive and psychosocial development. Physical and biological development is characterized by body growth and change, which causes excretion of different hormones like the hypothalamus, testosterone, and estradiol. Specifically, cognitive development revolves around the thought processes, which include decision making and problem-solving from the childhood stage all through to adulthood stage.

Psychosocial development, on its part, involves the development of personality across all the growth stages. There exist different theories of development that explore the process, including Skinner's Operant Conditioning, Bandura's Social Cognitive Theory, among others, and involve explaining the relationship between a person, behavior, and the environment. Ideally, in each stage of growth, one has to experience a psychosocial crisis, which can either positively or negatively affect an individual's personality. My life span development will continue across the cognitive, biological, and psychosocial concepts of growth.

Additionally, my personality development and growth reflect the influence of several environmental systems. The systems include mesosystems, microsystems, chronosystems, and ecosystems based on Bronfenbrenner’s ecological theory. The microsystem consists of peers, church groups, health services, peers, and the neighborhood environment. The Big five factors of personality include openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism explains how people react following different events.

The mesosystems further consist of mass media, legal services, and social welfare services. Finally, chronosystems include social-historical conditions and unique live events. Therefore, my native culture, school, and neighborhood environment determine most of my characteristics.

Who I am can only be revealed through the evaluation of personality, which is described as a way of thinking, behaving, and feeling. The concept of personality embraces attitudes, moods, and opinions expressed by interacting with other people. With that said, my personality can be described as chatty, intelligent, friendly, hardworking, kind, and honest, as well as bad-tempered.

I believe a lot of factors have shaped my personality. For instance, the virtues I possess of being friendly, hardworking, and chatty are formed by my peers at school and neighbors within my hood. We live in a friendly environment as one big family. Besides, most of my friends are talkative, and it is incredibly challenging to remain silent when we are around each other. More so, I have grown in an environment where nothing comes for free, which means I have to be hardworking to achieve my future goals. Finally, in my bad temper, I believe it is hereditary because my dad possesses the same habit.

Identity is defined as an individual's distinguishing character shaped by career, relationship status, interest, ethnic, political, and spiritual beliefs. I am identified as a young person who is hardworking, talkative, and bad-tempered. I am also recognized as a friendly type of person who easily interacts with everyone. Besides, I am identified as a leader because I lead several clubs, and even during my adolescent stage, I was the overall head of all students in high school. Most people refer to me as a man of the people because I act as a role model. I also motivate, inspire, and help everyone who is around me. I act on everyone’s problem as if it were my problem. Finally, I am fair in all my deeds because I am a firm advocate of justice and fairness.

My purposes in life will only be identified through the evaluation of my future goals. My first goal in life involves living a long and happy life by making the world a better place for everyone who lives around me by spending time around them. Secondly, I want to serve the larger society as their leader. Through this goal, I believe that I will serve the broader population to ensure everyone’s wellbeing. Lastly, I want to complete my studies to higher levels to become one of the most competent persons in my field.

My legacy to the forthcoming generations is I will be remembered as one of the greatest leaders within my region and beyond by bringing a significant change in society through advocating for fundamental rights as well as education. We live in a world where justice is not upheld, there are many corruption cases, and the poor continue to suffer. I purpose to change this trend to restore justice and ensure the equality and fair of everyone.

Conclusion

In conclusion, our personality is defined by many factors, the main one being our environmental surroundings. In my case, my peers, family, neighbors, and school environment have played a significant role in my personality development because I spend a lot of time within these settings. For instance, my leadership skills at a young age will shape my future.
