The singer solution to world poverty essay was written by Peter Singers in Allyn and Bacon writing a guide. Peter Singer is a philosopher who is trying to solve poverty-related problems. In the article, the philosopher puts it clearly or suggests that the United States of America citizen give away most of their income of salaries to the poor or the needy. In his writing, he states and believes that when a person withholds his or her money it's equivalent to letting a child die of starvation but lack of food or water. Poverty is the state of an individual where he cannot afford the basic needs which are food, shelter, and clothing. This is caused by lack of enough money by the individuals being affected because everything in the current world or economy is paid for, the living standards are also very high and are going up day by day so one needs a very well paying job to afford a comfortable life. Most American citizens have more than one job. Peter Singers concussion in his article is that it is unrighteous or indecent not donating money to agencies that give help to the poor. He further says that refusing or ignoring to save or give help to a child that is drowning in hunger. He further explains that most people believe and have the feeling that not helping a child that is starving is not right then the same mentality should be directed to the agencies or institution that help those children, people should not feel any different when donating to these agencies. The writer thinks that it is important for people to sacrifice their time and money to the agencies the same way they would do to the starving kids because the purpose of the money being donated is the same.
In the article, Peter Singer writes that if the American people would stop their extravagance in the way they spend their money they would save very many numbers of people who die from poverty and hunger. Many people spend their money on unnecessary stuff or in activities that are not beneficial if these people could spare the money that they use is such activities and donate to the agencies that deal with the needy and poverty they could actually save a life. The writer's statement by suggestion is that the only way hunger in the world could be ended is by people giving up their day to day luxurious lifestyles and using the money saved to help the people in this inhuman situations. This could really end the hunger in the world but the singer is being too harsh on people, it is not realistic to give up everything to save the life of other people because people work hard to have a good lifestyle. Maybe donating a little or part of the luxurious life is sensible. He could have suggested that people could at least sacrifice half of their luxurious life or any amount a person feels to, willingly, but everybody to at least make a sacrifice in helping the hungry people or poverty-stricken areas.
The writer uses the examples of the Dora, a teacher who sell an orphan and Bob to portray ho lives of innocent children and people in general lie of the hands of unrighteous of immoral individuals. He also gives another example of hunger-stricken people in Africa and also the Nazi in Germany who the American people have refused to help. The author message delivery is too harsh and also trying to use guilt which is a way of reverse psychology then asking for very unrealistic or impossible gestures from th American people. He is authoritative and dictating what should be done which is not a nice way to get help or change the ways, thoughts and the lifestyle of the people. Everything that the writer had put down was all for the betterment of the world and to support the unfortunate but the means and the tone he is uses to deliver the message is too harsh and not very persuasive. In his writing, he states and believes that when a person withholds his or her money it's equivalent to letting a child die of starvation but lack of food or water. In the current situation of the economy, nobody or very few people will do everything to help save a life and have a basic normal life after working overtime, or shifting from one job to another in order to get enough or extra money to have that luxury moment if not a lifestyle.
