Research Methodology

The most appropriate research method on the Sun Coast is quantitative research. Quantitative research refers to a systematic investigation of a particular phenomenon by collecting quantifiable data. Furthermore, it encompasses performing computational, mathematical, and statistical techniques to determine the extent of the identified phenomenon (Creswell, J. & Creswell, D. 2017). In the Sun Coast case, the aim is to collect information from the affected workers using sampling methods and then use the data to depict the result in a numerical manner for possible compensation and financial quantification of the damage caused the evident exposure to chemicals and detrimental working conditions. The survey permits the gathering of comprehensive information from a target audience about the cause, course, and the extent of injury and illness resulting from working in the toxic work environment. Probability sampling is appropriate when handling descriptive statistical data. Specifically, it is appropriate to use random sampling. For this reason, the researchers should use an automated process to choose the workers affected by environmental toxicity, which will then represent the entire workforce. Random sampling is relevant in this case because the number of employees (population) involved in reasonably large (5500). The sample data will then represent the entire population because the workers were exposed to the same levels of toxicity, meaning that the extent of damage and the resulting compensation for the affected workers bear similarities.

Data Analysis Procedures

Correlation analysis is the most appropriate statistical analysis procedure applicable in the Sun Coast case. Correlation analysis is applicable when the researcher intends to evaluate the relationship quantitative variables (Reimann, Filzmoser, Hron, Kynclova, & Garrett, 2017). In the case under discussion, the objective is to determine the relationship that exists between the extent of injury or illness (suffered by the employees due to their exposure to toxic substances) and the accompanying compensation. It is worth noting that the extent of the injury is the independent variable while compensation is the dependent variable. If the two variables show a positive correlation after analysis, then the compensation will be higher if the damage is extensive.
