Introduction
Selection is the procedure through which an entity employs to ascertain the best job applicant for a specified job position. Addition, adopting a good selection process is important in attaining highly competent personnel who can handle the dynamic demands of the working environment. Furthermore, a good selection process also aids in the attainment of personnel who can function harmoniously with the rest of the organization's workgroups and also fit seamlessly into the organization's culture. This research will provide a discussion of the selection process that can be employed in the assembling of an effective fundraising department in an organization.
Fundraising Event
The fundraising event to be executed will be focused on raising funds for the athletic department that will be used in improving the sport's infrastructure. In this case, the attained funds will be used to improve the athletic tracks and also in purchasing other essential athletic equipment for the athletic department. Additionally, to formulate the total costs that will be incurred in the purchase of such sporting phenomena, the selected members of the fundraising department will be tasked with the responsibility of creating a budget. Moreover, the size of the team in the fundraising department will be small and it will constitute of nine members.
Among the nine members in the fundraising departments, there will be positions for chairman, vice chairman, treasurer, secretary, and accountant. Additionally, the other four members that will also be part of the fundraising department will be volunteers appointed from the other departments in the organization. Also, the resources that will be required for the fundraising event will include tents, seats, tables, speakers, safety boxes, private security personnel, ablution blocks, food, and drinks. Other resources that will be required for the fundraising event will include advertisement posters, open venue for the event and hired healthcare personnel in case of a medical emergency.
The Three-Step Hiring Process
In the selection procedure of the members that will participate in the fundraising department, the three-step hiring process will be used. Additionally, the first step will entail conducting preliminary evaluations, which will entail seeking to know the positions' applicants personal information. Examples of such information will include the applicants' current places of residence, age, occupation and their level of commitment to the fundraising event. Moreover, the second step will entail reviewing the applicants' resumes. In this case, only candidates with a bachelor degree or closely related degrees will be considered for an interview for the stated job positions.
Also, the candidates who will have the right academic qualifications will be required to have participated in at least one past fundraising event to qualify for the stated appointed positions in the fundraising department. Ultimately, the last step will be the interviewing stage where 10 unstructured interview questions will be administered to all the interview participants. In this case, the interview questions will be open-ended to allow the respondents to provide as much information as they can on why they should be hired as members of the fundraising department. Also, successful candidates will be appointed based on how well they respond to the asked interview questions.
Interview Procedure
There are 10 primary questions that will be administered to all the job candidates during the interview process. In addition, the questions will be recorded on a questionnaire template that will then be issued to the athletic administrator after the applicants have recorded their responses. Additionally, each candidate will be offered a span of 15 minutes to respond to the asked questions. Below is a tabular representation of the interview questions that will be administered to the job applicants and a brief justification of why the questions should be asked to the applicants during the interview process.

Why would you like to participate in a fundraising event? The question will seek to investigate the reasons behind a candidate's decision to be involved in the fundraising process.
Do you have a past experiencing in fundraising? The question will be used to determine whether the candidate has an experience in the fundraising process.
What makes you the right candidate for the stated job positions in the fundraising department? The question will analyze the applicant believe and justifications of why he/she considers himself/herself as the perfect job candidate.
Which skills make you well fitted to plan and manage a fundraising event? The question will determine the unique skills in each candidate that makes him/her outstanding in performing the job compared to other candidates at the interview.
What is your education background? The question will seek to determine whether the candidate has the desirable academic qualifications to participate in the fundraising event.
Which strategies will you use to invite people for the fundraising? The question will determine whether the candidates have any special methods for inviting potential donors for the fundraising event.
What do you love about fundraising? The question will seek to determine whether the applicant has a factor that would drive him/her to participate in the fundraising event.
Do you prefer to work alone or in a group? The question will investigate whether the candidate is capable of working with other people that will participate in the fundraising event.
What is your approach towards functioning in an environment with persons from racial and culturally diverse groupings? The question will determine whether the candidate is able to work with other people who originate from different cultural or ethnic backgrounds.
How would you describe yourself in terms of strengths and weaknesses? The question will seek to determine the qualities that would support or demote a candidate in being offered the position.
