Over the recent years, technology has formed a significant measure of development a country has. Under this, we have information systems. An information system (IS) is an organised system that is used to collect, organised, store and communicate information and are often used in small scale and large scale business. Park et al. (2015) argues a good information system should be able to enable cost saving in a company. It should also be useful in the sense that a companies' management should be able to decide on the future of a company based on the present data availed in the information system. In this sense, therefore, the usefulness is one important aspect to consider. Similarly, the timeliness is another key aspect for consideration, the more recent data, will help a company's management to reflect on the current trends and this will enable decisions in the present reality.

However, an information system as any other form of technology experiences its problems. A major common problem faced in an information system is the maintenance of up-to-date data and provision of raw data input. Apart from the data generated on a company's sales, expenses, payments and revenue or other important information of the business, the marketing department in most cases has additional information systems whose databases can be used in a standard format or its current form (Park et al. 2015). Similarly, the usability of an information system is another common problem, there is no way a company is going to benefit from an information system if the employees do not use it, and merely a waste. According to El & Brzozowska (2017), although this could be due to the user interface being too complicated for the employees to generate the useful information they need hence before a company selects the type of information system they intend to use, such issues have to be checked. Its contents have to be easily understandable and relevant (Targowski, 2016). Moreover, the users should be able to generate the info they need with minimal effort applied. An information system contains all relevant information necessary to make particular decisions, in case specific information cannot be found because of missing data, it shows the gaps, shows possible consequences and possible scenarios from the missing data. An incomplete information presentation could lead to decisions that do not contain much-anticipated effects (Park et al. 2015).

The humanity lives in a world where the internet will be everything. Broadly, the "internet of everything" will overshadow the "internet of things". The wearable technology will be within reach, everything will be viewed in three dimensions, 3D printing will form, and contextually sensitive machines will be availed shortly. Nevertheless, the cloud computing will surge at an unprecedented rate. There will be visible changes in the global IT hiring patterns as the predictive analytics will come to the forefront. The big data will potentially reach to unmanageable proportions. Such and many more developments in the IT sector are expected in the future hence a promising tomorrow for the industry.

Conclusion

Generally, IT has played a significant role in the development of the global and local industries, for example, the creation of awareness, e.g. advertisements for sectors and generally informing the market about different products, both new and old. IT has also enabled communication in the industries, either top-down information or bottom-up information and storage of large data categorically hence lowering the confusion that comes with data stored in physical files.
