On today's date, I was dispatched to investigate a robbery alarm which has been reported at the Columbia City National Bank. The Columbia City Bank is located in Columbia City Virginia. The call dispatch came directly from the County's Criminal Investigation Division headquarters. Upon arrival at the scene, i.e., at the Columbia National Bank, Detective Reilly was met and briefed on the situation by Patrol Officer Mike Bennett. During the briefing the patrol officer-Officer Bennett informed your affiant that at approximately 8:00 AM, three suspects entered the bank. The three were dressed in rubber masks covering their heads and grey coveralls. All three suspects were armed with AK-47 assault rifles.

After gaining entry into the back, one of the three suspects fired off several rounds into the ceiling of the bank hall. After, one of the suspects jumped onto the desk of the bank's branch manager. He then ordered all of the bank's employees of the bank and the customers to comply with their demands. The Patrol officer herein referred to the suspect who was making the demands suspect number 1. Suspect number one acted as the leader. This was established from whereby he ordered suspect number 2 to be given access to the rear area. The rear area housed the bank teller stations behind the counter. These stations were located adjacent to the bank's vault. Suspect number 3 stood to watch all this time over the lobby area of the bank. Suspect number 2 proceeded to fill a black canvas duffle bag with money from the vault and the teller stations. This took only a few minutes, and within minutes tall the suspects walked out of the bank making their escape through the shopping mall area.

Your affiant carried out interviews on the cooperating witnesses to the robbery. Cooperating Witness number 1 from now on referred to as CW-1 who is an employee of the bank. CW-1 is an upstanding member of the community and whose identity is known to the police. The identity of CW-1 is kept confidential in this affidavit. This is considering the violent nature of the crime. CW-1 verified the facts provided by Patrol Officer Bennett. Also, the CW-1 added that suspect number 2 attacked and assaulted a bank teller. The bank teller according to CW-1 had tried to refuse suspect number 2 to access a teller station. C W-1 stated that all three suspects were wearing rubber masks in the following description. Suspect number 1 who jumped on the manager's desk and gave commands wore a "Donald Duck" mask while suspect number 3 who watched the lobby area of the bank wore a "Porky Pig" mask. Suspect number 2 who went to fill the canvas bag with the currency wore a "Richard Nixon" mask. CW-1 also added that the suspect then proceeds to fill the canvas bag he had carried with currency. According to the CW-1, the currency was both in currency bundles strapped in Columbia National Bank straps which contained the initials of the various bank workers who had previously verified the count of the specific bundles and also loose currency.

Cooperating Witness number 2, hereinafter referred to as CW-2 was also interviewed. CW-2 identity is also withheld at this time as a result of the violent nature of the crime. CW-2 is identity is well known by the police and an outstanding member of the community. CW-2 provided their statement to Detective Catherine Steele. Detective Steele is a London County Sheriff's office CID. CW-2 stated that he/she saw the three suspects dressed in full head rubber masks and grey coveralls. The suspects also according to CW-2 were armed with military-style assault rifles. CW-2 saw the suspects while they were exiting the South entrance of the shopping mall. CW-2 states that the time was about 8:10 AM. The suspects according to CW-2 boarded a silver Ford van which had Virginia license plates AZB 4589. The dispatcher notifies Officer Danner that the van had been reported stolen at 7:00 AM by the owner.

The bank's security Vice President Donna Foreman informed your affiant that a preliminary audit of the funds at the bank showed that currency more than $ 100,000 thousand US dollars were stolen by the suspects. The security vice president was not present at the bank during the robbery.

Officer Naomi Janson who is a crime scene tech officer attached to the forensic unit of London County Sheriff's office informed the affiant that shell casings recovered from the Bank lobby were consistent with the ammunition used in SKS military and AK assault rifles. The pattern of a shoe print recovered from the bank's manager's desk also matched "Red Wing" work boots patterns. The examination into the shoe prints shows that the shoe was possibly size 13. A still image from the surveillance tape which was provided by Officer Janson confirmed the dressing of the three suspects.

FBI SA Tanya Raddisson who was working the investigation with the affiant was assigned an interview the owner of the stolen van used as the getaway vehicle. When she examined the neighbourhood from where the van was stolen she located and recovered the van abandoned across the street from a convenience store that had video surveillance covering their parking lot and a portion of the neighbourhood across from the store. She also noted that napkins and other paper products left in the van were marked like the food service items in the store. FBI SA Tanya Raddisson informed your affiant that video prints from a convenience store which was located approximately two miles from the bank showed two white men in grey coveralls parking a late model Blue Ford Truck with a crew cab. The blue Ford Truck has Virginia License plate TLY5438 which was registered to James Winston 234 Denham Ln. Columbia City. A search into the criminal database shows that Winston has no criminal record and no outstanding warrants. Winston, his described as a white male 6'2'' inches tall and weighing 220 lbs. This description matches suspect number I as well as the driver of the Ford truck. Another photograph from the surveillance shows a third white male in a coverall parking the Silver van across the store. The surveillance and photograph timestamp is between 6:50 AM and 6:59 AM. Surveillance images also show the three men each carrying a duffle bag enter the silver Ford van and returns to the same parking spot across the store and then abandons the van and enters the Ford crew cab. According to the surveillance timestamps, the three men entered the Ford Van, getaway vehicle and leave the neighborhood at 7:00 AM. At 9:10 AM the van returns to the same parking spot across the street from the store and the three men who are each carrying black duffle bags emerge from the van. They run to the Ford Crew Cab pick-up and immediately leave the parking lot of the convenience store.

Our investigative team moved to a surveillance location for the house known as 234 Denham Lane. SA Raddisson was able to conduct a discreet examination of the address and determined that the truck belonging to "Winston" was not present, but she obtained a telephone number for the realty company that owned the house. Your affiant then contacted the company and interviewed the landlady Mrs Janet Dinardo. Mrs Janet Dinardo who is the "president" of Denham realty informs your affiant that 234 Denham Lane apartment was rented to James Winston. She, however, states that she doesn't believe that James Winston was his real name. According to Mrs. Dinardo, the suspect paid three months' rent for the house two months ago. The suspect had informed her that he was renting the house for him and his wife Melanie. However, according to Mrs. Dinardo, the suspect's wife never showed up since the payment was made two months ago. Mrs. Dinardo informed your affiant that two other men moved in with the suspect immediately after he rented the room. She always asked the suspect how his plumbing work was working for him and his roommates i.e. the two men who had moved into 234 Denham Lane. Mrs Dinardo informed your affiant that there were all kinds of guns in the house and when she asked the men about the guns they said that they were passionate about hunting. Mrs Dinardo thought that the men were ex-military but they seemed to edged to serve in the military. She described the three men i.e. the suspect and his two male friends, as "rough characters". Your affiant was also informed by the witness that the men arrived from work and unloaded their truck of all sorts of stuff and then they put coolers in the back of the truck and drove away to what she believed was towards North Carolina or Virginia Beach.

Based on facts and evidence detailed above, I your affiant believes there is probable cause to search and seize evidence from 234 Denham Lane premise in relation to the crime of robbery at the Columbia City National Bank. The evidence expected to be collected includes a "Donald Duck" mask, a "Porky Pig" mask and a "Richard Nixon" mask. Also, the evidence includes fingerprints, duffle bags used to carry the cash; assault rifles used as well as any other trace and physical evidence which will help develop the case.

I therefore respectfully request that a search warrant for 234 Denham Lane premise for evidence of the crime of armed robbery of Columbia City National Bank be issued on today's date.
