Thesis: Offshore Drilling should be banned owing to the dangers it causes like higher risks of danger, fire, and spills following the deeper drilling depth done by sophisticated and non-invisible equipment.
Melina, Remy. "Why is Offshore Drilling so Dangerous?" Live Science.28.May 2010, www.https://www.livescience.com/32614-why-is-offshore-drilling-so-dangerous-.html
Melina Remy addresses the controversy of the danger associated with offshore drilling in his article. In his findings, he specifically highlights the risks associated with the sophisticated and non-invisible equipment used for offshore drilling. Another threat that Melina indicated on offshore drilling is the harsh environment of the maritime that is a more significant challenge to the engineering and the drilling equipment. That is evidenced through severe weather, ice and storm is a considerable risk to the functioning of the rig and the rescue personnel who cannot reach such area during an emergency. A third issue that Melina conclusively underscores the inexperience of the oil companies. That has resulted in mot failure in the attempt of toping oil leakage coupled with unprepared/leading to the formation of ice inside the original containment dome owing to freeing low water temperature. Melina's overall conclusion is that offshore drilling is hazardous to the environment due to the pollution, accidental risks, leaking at the rig sites, coupled with carbon emissions that negatively affect the environment. I conclusively agree with Melina's approach to addressing the danger of offshore drilling, with conventional and relevant examples. I particularly agree with the standard of such threat, especially the accidental risk and leakage that may pose a challenge to the environment. The article I, therefore, packaged with valuable information that offers both educative and underlying concerns on offshore drilling.
Earth Action. "10 Reasons why Offshore Drilling is a Bad Idea." Cause and Effect EarthAction.19, Aug. 2008, www https://www.earthaction.org/2008/08/10-reasons-why.html
This article offers underlying criticism on offshore drilling by delving into reasons why it is a bad idea to perform offshore drilling. First, it underscores the danger of burning fossil fuel like oil since by doing that, the result of global warming which results to the stronger hurricane that subsequently threatens the rig of offshore drilling that would further result in more global warming. Secondly, the article is packaged with valuable information on the wastage of billions of dollars offshore drilling that would postpone the transmission of foil fuel to binding renewable energy. By drawing a close study on that, the article information that the best strategy of avoiding the ore impact of global warming would be the itching of foil fuel to renewable energy within the next decade. It adds that the world's energy problem cannot just be solved with the same drilling that led to their creation. The article concludes by underscoring the fact that there is the availability of renewable energy hence the need to walk away from fossil fuels towards clean energy in the future. I am in concurrence with the article on the reasons why offshore drilling is a bad idea since offshore oil drilling would neither impact gas prices today nor in the future. I would use thee example in my future research to convince my reader on the wrong idea of offshore drilling, and for sure, I am still in favor of the banning of offshore drilling since it because of more harm than good.
